Prime Air is seeking a Systems Development Engineer who combines superb technical and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively. Key job responsibilities

As a System Development Engineer, you will define, develop, test, and deliver solutions for Prime Airs Drone Electric Propulsion Subsystem.
•Break down and frame problems using con-ops, use cases, structural/functional decomposition, and other system representations to clarify needs and align technical teams
•Drive and prioritize execution of system test campaigns that span lab and field-testing environments in collaboration with subsystem development and test teams (test readiness reviews, test execution, post-test analysis and reporting). Support of DO-160 environmental test procedures & reports.
•Develop and communicate system integration and evaluation strategies and plans in support of program learning, technical risk reduction, verification, and validation
•Perform technical risk assessments (such as PSSA, FHA, FMEA, etc.), devise mitigation plans, and create system test strategies
•Propose changes to the system architecture and allocations across multiple sub-systems and components that improve system performance and robustness
•Coordinate with other subsystems and design engineers on systems goals and constraints in relation to physical, interfaces, compliance, data management, and risk management
•Generation artifacts for design reviews, validation, verification and certification (FAA & EASA).
•Conduct trade studies and cross-functional trade-offs with other groups within the following dimensions: performance, schedule, cost, risk, opportunity, complexity, and scale.
•Build quantitative models and analyses (Excel, MATLAB, Python, internal tools such as Jira and confluence) to conduct trade studies, refine requirements, and understand key system drivers across the integrated systems of systems

A day in the life
This role will integrate closely with internal partners on the electrical, software teams and flight control teams to develop the best system solutions. This position will require collaboration with various teams across the Prime Air organization.
Job Requirements:
- BS or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics, Physics, or another STEM discipline.
- 4+ years of experience in systems engineering
- 2+ years of experience in the design, integration, and testing of electric powertrain and power distribution systems
- Experience with eliciting and clarifying business and end user needs, and connecting those needs to system concepts, requirements, and designs
- Experience leading technical collaborations and creating alignment across diverse groups (e.g. hardware engineering, software engineering, program management)
- Experience identifying and analyzing dependencies, tradeoffs, and sensitivities across multi-disciplinary systems •Experience in design and analysis of safety critical systems •Demonstrated business communication; ability to explain complex concepts and designs to colleagues across disciplines
- Experience with power systems, communication protocols, and embedded computing
- Experience working with aircraft or automotive electrical power systems
- Familiarity with RTCA DO-254, RTCA-DO-160, RTCA-DO-178 standards for design, development and test of electronic airborne hardware.
- Experience using Jama or similar requirements database tool- Experience developing hardware such as, Motors, Batteries, Battery Chargers, Motor Controller, Battery Management Systems (BMS). Experience in Model Based Systems
- Experience with testing systems and hardware.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic spanets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,200/year in our lowest geographic spanet up to $202,700/year in our highest geographic spanet. Pay is based on a number of factors including spanet location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
