Join our team as a Principal Electrical Engineer, where you’ll play a pivotal role in developing advanced automated test equipment for aerospace products and systems. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead the design and development of electrical systems, create critical requirements and specifications, and troubleshoot complex systems using industry-standard hardware like National Instruments PXI, cRIO, and LabVIEW. What YOU Will Do:
- Design, analyze, and troubleshoot circuits, test systems, and PCB products
- Develop and maintain test documentation, plans, procedures, and reports
- Write test requirements and detailed design documents
- Work with vendors to develop complex automated Test Equipment
- Troubleshoot complex issues that may be software, hardware, system, or product related to determine root cause and corrective action
- Communicate technical issues through written, verbal and presentation media
- Support to the manufacturing/operations group as needed to help ensure on-time delivery of product
- Interface with Customers, External Suppliers, Program Managers, Engineering Managers, Mechanical, Software, Electrical, and Systems Engineers, as well as the Manufacturing organization
- Management of various projects with small teams of test engineers and outsourced test equipment hardware build
What YOU Will Learn:
- Master the use of cutting-edge test equipment technologies like PXI, cRIO, FPGA, and LabVIEW to drive innovation in aerospace product testing.
- Gain hands-on experience in end-to-end electrical system design, from concept development to troubleshooting complex aerospace test systems.
- Develop project management skills by leading small teams, managing timelines, and collaborating across multiple engineering disciplines and external vendors.
- Expand your knowledge of avionics communication protocols such as 1553, ARINC, and CAN, while working on advanced data acquisition systems.
- Learn how to optimize test coverage for high-performance aerospace products, ensuring compliance with rigorous industry standards and customer requirements
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience

Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience with Matlab, Simulink, Mentor Graphics (Dxdesigner/Expedition)
- Strong background in electrical troubleshooting
- National Instruments Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) or Certified LabVIEW Embedded Developer (CLED) or other software coding experience
- Familiarity with standard avionics busses including 1553, ARINC, CAN, RS485, RS232, and 1394
- Experience with PXI based National Instruments hardware, cRIO, FPGA, and data acquisition systems
- Familiarity with project planning, budgets, and Microsoft Project
- Able to function at a high level with multiple tasks and projects, and to effectively change direction based upon business needs

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
