An excellent opportunity exists within the Material Estimating Organization as a Principal Specialist Estimating and Pricing. The estimating organization is responsible for the preparation of various types of proposals for development, production and competitive contracts including modifications to existing contracts. In addition, the Estimating Organization supports gate reviews, government audits, and negotiations with the customer.
This position is an on-site role for the McKinney, TZ or El Segundo, CA locations, and the selected applicant will work with the hiring manager to set schedule.
What You Will Do
- Be responsible for the development, analysis and completion of material proposals
- Work with other functions from across the company to understand and evaluate the material and other direct costs associated with proposed contracts and the associated program
- Utilize company estimating and pricing programs and tools
- Lead the development of Material Basis of Estimates to include tracking progress, validating and analyzing supplier quotes and Purchase Order History, ensuring consistency across the program, and confirming the estimating approach is sound
- Ensure proposals comply with all FAR and internal requirements
- Assess, develop and implement solutions leading to a thorough material package
- Perform detailed and complex analysis of inputs to ensure soundness in our material estimates
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related/applicable field and a minimum of 5 years prior relevant experience, or an Advance Degree in a related field and a minimum of 3 years’ experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

- Knowledge and experience with proposal development, price buildup, and estimating and pricing processes
- Knowledge of and/or experience with federal proposal regulations including but not limited to: FAR, DFAR, TINA

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
