Aviation Material Specialists are responsible for tracking inventory levels and verifying product information. They sort and transfer goods and handle all shipping and receiving of Aircraft components, expendable material, and aircraft tooling. An Aviation Material Specialist pulls material pick tickets and transfer orders to support line maintenance. Controls, identifies, and prepares all hazardous material for shipping and keeps a current dangerous goods certification.
Responsibilities:
- Understand TechOps requirements; MEL, Deferred maintenance items, etc. to ensure aircraft reliability and readiness.
- Collaborate with Maintenance to ensure scheduled maintenance is available, and prepicked to support operational requirements.
- Collaborate with MX, & Planning to develop a 7-day schedule that is forward looking at aircraft mx and the parts requirements to carry out those tasks.
- Streamline logistic requirements.
- Monitor Inventory levels.
- Track & Manage supplier discrepancies during receiving (paperwork issues, qty discrepancies etc...)
- Continuous improvement - Inventory integrity through JIT concept, first in first out practice to cut spoilage.
- Processes all incoming goods through receiving, confirms paperwork accuracy.
- Validates shelf-life requirements and ensures adequate time remaining on the product.
- Process unserviceable material through the repair order process and return of exchanges.
- Ensure unserviceable material is returned to our partner within the allotted time to avoid penalties.
- Develop process that expedites repair order process, update records, minimize waste, and track the part from aircraft removal to AMOS update, & transportation to our partner.
- Perform bin management functions such as cycle counts, & yearend inventories.
- Develop tracking system to ensure compliance; every part is counted minimum of once / year, every rotable is counted once / quarter.
- Monthly shelf-life audits to manage spoilage.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Move throughout the warehouse or line maintenance environments for extended periods of time (up to 10-12 hours per day).
- Ability to work through multiple problems/solutions prioritizing and sequencing the execution of issues to manage and resolve them quickly and effectively.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work outside in inclement weather.
- Must be able to work shift work, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to successfully complete Dangerous good initial and reoccurring training.
- Possible travel for training, deployment and/or issue resolution up to 25 away from base
- Must obtain a valid driver’s license.
May perform other responsibilities, as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate. (e.g., emergencies, changes in workload, rush jobs or technical developments, etc.)
