The Back Shop Machinist plays a critical role in supporting the aircrafts final assembly line by fabricating, repairing, and maintaining precision components and tools used in production. This position involves operating a variety of machining equipment, ensuring high-quality standards, and collaborating closely with assembly teams to address production needs.

Responsibilities:

Fabrication and Repair:

• Manufacture precision parts and components from technical drawings or specifications.

• Repair and modify tools and fixtures required for assembly operations.

Machine Operation:

• Operate and maintain CNC and manual machining equipment, such as mills, lathes, and grinders.

• Calibrate and set up machines to ensure accuracy and precision in production.

Inspection and Quality Control:

• Inspect finished components using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools to verify conformance to specifications.

• Identify and resolve machining discrepancies to maintain production quality.

Preventive Maintenance:

• Perform routine maintenance on shop machinery to ensure operational readiness.

• Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain detailed records of work performed, including setups, measurements, and completed projects.

• Communicate progress and issues to supervisors and relevant teams.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in operating CNC and manual machining tools.

• Strong understanding of technical drawings, tolerances, and material properties.

• Experience in aerospace or high-precision manufacturing preferred.

• Relevant technical certifications are a plus.

• This position requires a detail-oriented professional with advanced machining skills to support the dynamic needs of an aircrafts final assembly line.
