CNC Machine Operator/Machinist (Full Time)

Our CNC Machine Operators/Machinists are responsible for assisting the team in the production of our high-quality Piper aircraft that support the Piper Aircraft brand. Our CNC Machine Operators/Machinist are tasked to follow Piper drawings, process specifications (PPS) and other manufacturing instructions to meet or exceed planned production and delivery schedules while maximizing company resources to achieve company goals.

The below outline for our CNC Machine Operator/Machinist Career Path provides the pay range and essential functions/job skills at every level within the Career Progression program.
CNC Machine Operator I ($23/hr - $27/hr)
Essential Job Functions: Performs or assists the Supervisor in the following tasks:
Maintaining compliance with Piper QAM/QIM and FAA requirements.
Perform machining of aluminum, stainless steel and steel parts on all 3 axis and up mills, lathes and live tooling.
Inspect and buying off own and other Teammateswork using Piper inspection certifications.
Assist with maintaining effective Safety, Environmental Protection, FOD and Tool Control, 5S and other assigned programs.
Able to check simple dimensions using simple calibrated tools.
Able to perform simple necessary tasks such as touching off tools, loading programs, setting work coordinates, loading fixtures and loading parts/material.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
CNC Machine Operator II($30/hr - $32/hr)
Essential Job Functions: Performs or assists the Supervisor in all of the tasks listed above as well as the following tasks:
Maintaining compliance with Piper QAM/QIM and FAA requirements.
Perform machining of aluminum, stainless steel and steel parts on all 3 axis and up mills, lathes and live tooling.
Inspect and buying off own and other Teammateswork using Piper inspection certifications.
Conduct training and cross training of Team Members to attain acceptable levels of performance.
Assist with maintaining effective Safety, Environmental Protection, FOD and Tool Control, 5S and other assigned programs.
Able to comp tools in diameter and length.
Able to comp work coordinates, + and -.
Able to check a variety of simple dimensions using a variety of simple calibrated tools.
Perform duties of lower graded position in Career Path and other duties as assigned by supervision.
Senior CNC Machine Operator($33/hr - $35/hr)
Serves as the lead with the ability to and willingness to receive and share practical knowledge, train, cross-train and mentor teammates within career path to perform necessary job functions and requirements in order to attain satisfactory levels of performance and production effectivity.
Operates all Machine Shop CNC Mills, or all CNC lathes, or all Manual/Vertical Mills.
Performs root cause and corrective action of nonconforming material in order to reduce Machine Shop defects and scrap material.
Improves Machine Shop operational performance by completing cost savings activities such as tooling improvements, reduction of set up times, eliminating waste, etc.
Serves as lead with the ability to guide and willingness to receive and share practical knowledge, train, cross-train and mentor teammates within career path to perform necessary job functions and requirements in order to attain satisfactory levels of performance and production effectivity.
Adhere, maintain, assist and train teammates within career path to all departmental compliance requirements such as Safety, Environmental Protection, FOD and Tool Control, 5S and other assigned programs.
Perform audits of areas within the department as required to maintain compliance with all FAA and Piper operational requirements. Initiate related operational process or procedural corrective action, or request additional assistance from leadership or other support teams where necessary.
Perform duties of lower graded position within Career Path and other duties as assigned by supervision
CNC Machinist I($36/hr - $38/hr)
Essential Job Functions: Performs or assists the Supervisor in all of the tasks listed above as well as the following tasks:
Maintaining compliance with Piper QAM/QIM and FAA requirements.
Perform machining of aluminum, stainless steel and steel parts on all 3 axis and up mills, lathes and live tooling.
Inspect and buying off own and other Teammateswork using Piper inspection certifications.
Assist with maintaining effective Safety, Environmental Protection, FOD and Tool Control, 5S and other assigned programs.

Assist with other manufacturing areas to ensure production readiness.
Assist with maintaining effective Safety, Environmental Protection, FOD and Tool Control, 5S and other assigned programs.
Read G-Code and other forms of conversational programming.
Assist in comping tools in diameter and length.
Assist in comping work coordinates, + and -.
Assist in checking a variety of simple dimensions using a variety of simple and complex calibrated tools.
Perform duties of lower graded position in Career Path and other duties as assigned by supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
At least 18 years of age or older
High school diploma or equivalent
Successful completion CNC Operator/Machinist program or 2 years experience preferred
Related CNC Operator/Machinist Experience Requirements:
o CNC Machine Operator I: 2 years of experience
o CNC Machine Operator II: 2 - 5 years of experience
o Senior CNC Machine Operator: 5 years of experience
o CNC Machinist I: 2 years of experience
o CNC Machinist II: 2 - 5 years of experience
o Senior CNC Machinist: 5 years of experience
Ability to work scheduled shift and hours, including overtime
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Use of hand and power tools as required
Follow all safety procedures
Ability to demonstrate sound judgement and effective communication skills (written and verbal)
Adhere to Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS) and other manufacturing instructions
