Component Repair Specialist I

To continue our standard of excellence, Piedmont is seeking a motivated, reliable professional to join our team as a Component Repair Specialist I in our Supply Chain Department. The primary responsibility of the position is to process repair orders for removed aircraft components with approved repair suppliers and follow up with status and deliveries to support the operation. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication, customer service, and reasoning skills. This position will report to the Supply Chain Supervisor.

Essential Duties:

  • Understand repair processes, analyze and utilize required reports, and process repair orders

  • Source component repair services from Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved and reputable repair suppliers

  • Request repair supplier component capabilities, terms, and pricing while coordinating and receiving Quality Assurance approval

  • Analyze and process removed component data

  • Execute repair orders timely and accurately with correct quantities and suppliers to support the Maintenance Department

  • Evaluate removed component data for warranty consideration during the repair order process

  • Analyze, prepare, and process supplier repair quotes for accuracy, repair costs and approval; Consult with internal Maintenance and Engineering technical experts when necessary

  • Monitor repair supplier performance; ensure compliance, identify trends, turn times, warranty issues, repair costs, and responsiveness

  • Reconcile repair and warranty quote disputes with repair suppliers

  • Conduct follow-up, expedite and track all open repair orders with repair suppliers to ensure timely delivery within stated lead times to support inventory and operational requirements

  • Prepare, analyze, update, and maintain detailed reports, records, and files

  • Prepare component scrap/rebuy purchase requisitions for components beyond economical repair and submit to management for approval

  • Build relationships with internal departments and outside repair suppliers while assisting with repair requests

  • Review and reconcile repair order receiving discrepancies and arrange for returns if required

  • Partner with Accounts Payable to clear repair invoice discrepancies

  • Process material and repair requests for flight simulators

Job Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel

  • Understanding of Merlin M&E System procurement /repair processes

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Ability to perform detailed work with accuracy, confidentiality, and promptness

  • Driven, results-oriented work ethic

  • Strong problem-solving and multi-tasking skills

  • Ability to handle operational issues effectively, understanding escalation, communication, and crisis management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One (1) year of prior purchasing/repair and sourcing experience

  • Prior experience with procurement/enterprise resource planning inventory control/procurement systems

  • Aviation background

Work Environment:

  • Standard office environment, use of telephones, computers, and other office equipment

  • Some travel may be required

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
