We currently have an opening for a full-time permanent Composite Technician / AME S.
As a Composite Tech at Conair, you are responsible for the manufacture, maintenance, repair, overhaul and modifications of aircraft composite structures and components. Working within a team environment, you are expected to operate independently and exercise sound judgment and refer unusual situations to the Crew Lead.
In this role your duties will include the following:
- Responsible for carrying out complex composite tasks in manufacture, repair, overhaul and modification of aircraft, aircraft parts, Conair products and systems.
- Liaises and cooperates with other departments to promote efficiency, project coordination and schedule accuracy.
- Complete safety tasks, assist in ensuring and promoting a safe work area.
- Responsible for interpreting drawings and blueprints accurately.
- Participates in the development and practicality of products, repairs or modifications and quality control.
- Maintain a clean and organized Composite/Clean room
We are looking for someone with:
- Knowledge and awareness of all hazards in the workplace, ability to put the knowledge to work in creating a safe environment.
- Knowledge of structures trade and an understanding of standard aircraft practices, with the ability to perform and convey to others the specified standard and level of quality.
- Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints and drawings.
- Skill and precision in manufacturing sheet metal and composite parts using knowledge of practical applications of machinery and parts.
- Skill in working independently and being able to take initiative in analyzing situations out of the ordinary.
- Ability to learn new skills quickly and respond to verbal instructions.
- Ability to work effectively with mechanical tools and equipment.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in the repair, overhaul and maintenance of aircraft.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Ability to act with professionalism particularly in the face of opposition.
- Ability to clearly and effectively express information and ideas both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to travel to remote places to access and perform structural composite repairs as required.
Training/Education:
- Grade 12 and formal training in the aircraft structures trade either on the job or through a recognized school.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a structures technician is an asset.
- AME ‘S’ license is an asset.
