Job Title: Composite Toolmaker I
Responsible for assisting the Supervisor and Lead in the fabrication of high-quality tooling for the assembly and fabrication of aircraft parts following Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS) and other manufacturing instructions. Assists in meeting or exceeding planned production and delivery schedules while maximizing company resources to achieve company goals.
Essential Job Functions: Performs or assists the Supervisor in the following tasks:
Fabricate and assemble route jigs, drill jigs, holding fixtures, fiberglass layup molds, prepreg fiberglass molds, resin infusion molds, thermoform molds, and tooling masters according to engineering drawings and specifications.
Set up and operate machine tools such as saw, jig, grinder, drill press, and hand tools to fabricate part and verify conformance of tooled part to specifications.
Perform routine maintenance tasks on tools and equipment.
Assist production with critical structural repairs for non-conforming parts/assemblies following instructions from engineering dispositions.
Inspect fabricated tools for quality and accuracy.
Learn to troubleshoot and diagnose tooling issues.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Follow safety protocols and guidelines at all times.
Maintain departmental compliance with Piper QAM/QIM, AS9100, and FAA requirements.
Adhere to Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS) and other manufacturing instructions
Assist with maintaining effective Safety, Environmental Protection, FOD and Tool Control, 5S and other assigned programs.
Partner with senior teammates within career path to receive and share practical knowledge for proper training to perform necessary job functions and requirements in order to attain satisfactory levels of performance and production effectivity.
Perform duties as assigned by supervision.
Able to assist teammates on machine set-up and calibrations
