Machinist
Summary:
Reporting to the Engine Shop Supervisor, the Machinist will perform precision set-up and machining operations on multiple materials with various manual machines using existing jigs, and fixtures in order to accomplish production machinery functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Several machines manual. Use manual mills, manual lathes, and other machines, with jig, tool post grinders.
- Operate precision surface grinder.
- Occasionally develops new tooling, jigs, and/or fixtures. Follows tool control policy and procedures, including maintenance, preservation, and storage.
- Perform inspection with precision measuring equipment to 0.0002 inch precision. Correctly interprets sketches, blueprints, and engineering details.
- Establish appropriate datums, set ups, layout methods, order of operations, and application of required parts and materials.
- Correctly uses temperature compensation when needed.
- Run electronic equipment and systems to perform work.
- This is a journeyman-level position requiring vocational training or apprenticeship plus relevant experience or equivalent.
Required:
- Work with a variety of chemicals and solvents;
- Push/pull items that could weigh up to or over 100 lbs;
- Be able to bend, sit, stand; walk often;
- Read/write English;
- Must be able to obtain airport badge (passing a 10-year background check);
Education/Qualifications:
- Minimum 6-8 years’ experience
- High School graduate
- Aviation experience a plus
- This is a journeyman level position requiring vocational training or apprenticeship plus relevant experience or equivalent.
Pay rate: $30.00/hour - $55.00/hour
