We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Materials Planner to support the Technical Operations department by ensuring the seamless availability of materials for aircraft maintenance. You will play a crucial role in the planning, forecasting, and scheduling of materials for both short and long-term maintenance needs. Our ideal candidate is detail-oriented, has a strong understanding of aviation regulations, and excels in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift quickly. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors, OEMs, and our procurement team, to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of materials, preventing any disruption to our daily operations. In this role, you will be responsible for managing inventory levels, tracking material requirements, and ensuring that maintenance operations are supported with the right materials at the right time.

As part of our team, you will help optimize inventory usage and make critical adjustments to meet the demands of our airline’s operations. Your ability to problem-solve, maintain composure in high-pressure situations, and collaborate effectively across teams will contribute to the success of WestJet’s Technical Operations.

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Maintenance Planning, you will help elevate WestJet’s materials management standards while supporting the continuous improvement of our processes. What you will be doing:

  • Perform short term, long term & heavy maintenance forecasting, planning and scheduling of aircraft materials for Technical Operations department using our digital tracking program.
  • Coordinate materials required for maintenance events with internal / external stakeholders and service providers, including Vendors, OEM, Repair and Overhaul & our Procurement team.
  • Generate/Authorize material requisitions for purchase to support maintenance events based on requirements, inventory usage and availability.
  • Monitor inventory levels for usage, trends, shortages and provide recommendations for min/max level adjustments to consistently have the required materials on hand in the location that maintenance is accomplished.
  • Manage requisitioning/picklisting/movement of parts/tooling are completed for scheduled/unscheduled maintenance.
  • Tracking materials to the ever-changing daily airline operation to avoid service disruption
  • Adjust Min/Max levels in the maintenance system as required to match demand with supply lead times.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of directly related experience required
  • Knowledge of the Transport Canada Canadian Aviation Regulations for material requirements
  • eMRO Experience Required (ideally Trax CMTS)
  • Have a consistent high level of commercial awareness and a focus on continuous improvement
  • Ability to maintain composure in demanding situations and possess a “roll-up-your-sleeves” attitude to make things happen
  • Proven ability to build strong and lasting internal relationships by working collaboratively in a complex stakeholder environment
  • Strong communication, analytical and interpersonal skills with the ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines and handle competing priorities
  • A strong aptitude for technology and computer skills including MS Office
  • Have a strong work ethic, be reliable, focused, self-motivated with a positive attitude
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks with excellent attention to detail
  • Demonstrate high ethical standards and strong problem-solving skills
  • Good team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
