JOB PURPOSE
Materials coordinators are responsible for a broad range of duties related to inventory management and the oversight of products and materials. They inspect and record shipments of products and equipment, and may also handle the processing of maintenance requests and work orders. They identify ways to better organize and expedite shipping and distribution processes. They may use an electronic LMIS (Logistics Management Information System) program to assist with efficient and accurate oversight of material tracking and coordination.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Demands: Requires sitting and standing for extended periods of time. Requires frequent walking, bending, stooping, squatting and reaching above shoulder level, crouching, kneeling, or balancing. Requires lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling weight up to 50 pounds. Requires repetitive hand movement. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Equipment Operated: Telephone, facsimile and copy machine, computer terminal, forklifts, motorized vehicles.
Work Location: Stores, Tool Room, Shipping, Receiving, Aircraft Maintenance Hangar and Designated Outside Areas.
Protective Equipment Required: Protective footwear, safety glasses, ear protection, gloves.
Potential Hazards: Exposure to high noise levels, occasional residual odors, extreme changes in temperature, materials identified on Material Safety Data Sheets, working around moving machinery.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position is responsible for the routine shipping and receiving tasks.
- Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies. promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Sort and counts parts and supplies and logs inventory.
- Ensure correct parts are kept in the appropriate quantities to support production and assembly requirements.
- May trace lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments. initiates proof of delivery documents.
- Willingness to assist other teams members in parts in other material handling functions.
- Respond to emergency supply, and equipment request.
- Responsible for the continuous supply of materials to one or more production or assembly areas.
- Establish and maintain a safe and healthful working environment in accordance with OSHA requirements.
- Represent the department in a positive and professional manner.
- Collaborate with buyers and parts coordinators on incoming materials and service requests.
- Move requested material from manufacturing warehouse into service inventory or directly to a service work station.
- Take responsibility for actions and outcomes and persist despite obstacles. be available around the clock in case of emergency. give long hours to the job. demonstrate dependability in difficult circumstances and show a sense of urgency about getting results.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and participate in process improvements and quality improvement programs.
SMS REQUIREMENTS
- Will monitor and ensure SMS compliance, safe workplace initiatives/practices are followed, and to eliminate health hazards.
- Will enforce safety rules, FAA regulations, PPE compliance, equipment operation requirements, safety reporting and provide resources to eliminate hazardous conditions.
- Will implement approved safety suggestions and solutions for achieving a safer, healthier workplace.
