We are looking for a skilled Material and Production Planner to work under the direction of the Senior Materials Manager with moderate oversight. In this role you will be responsible for the coordination of planning and control activities for purchased and manufactured parts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Allocate and release work orders on time using MRP parameters, ensuring appropriate lot assignment and batch quantities based on JIT concepts and other strategic initiatives.
- Responsible for ensuring purchase requisitions are created on time to support purchasing lead times, and to ensure there are no stock outs for spares requirements.
- Utilize workbench software data and other tools to participate in and monitor ROR process from work order issuance to part shipment.
- Analyze supply and demand balance; identify and develop corrective actions to address imbalances.
- Develop strategies to ensure all planning parameters are accurate, current, and continuously adjusted to support manufacturing process, either manually or through MRP or other available software. This can include but is not limited to min/max requirements, Kanban, and establishing commonly used components listing.
- Minimize risks to the profit plan by rescheduling work to pull in and push out production where appropriate, working with other departments to mitigate any risks and get back on plan.
- Manage level loading of program specific manufactured and procured parts.
- Communicate priorities and problem solve by working with various departments including but not limited to production, purchasing, engineering and quality.
- Represent the materials function at various meetings to report on status of program and participate in plans pertaining to new programs.
- Escalate to Sr. Materials Manager, Program Manager, and/or Purchasing Manager any problems that might impact contractual, on time delivery, or internal goals.
- Know and utilize department policies and procedures relevant to component replacement/ loan, borrow and or diversion to keep spares and ROR production operations on schedule and initiate corrective actions to support company and customer needs.
- Provide status updates and estimated completion dates as required.
- Monitor and analyze exception messages, and coordinate appropriate actions, including follow up to ensure actions are completed.
- Conduct periodic meetings with responsible parties to identify and resolve program problems, and assure corrective actions are in place.
Qualifications
Broad knowledge of a general technical field such as manufacturing, procurement or materials planning. Requires thorough understanding and use of MRP systems and manufacturing processes. Fluent oral and written communication skills as well as good working knowledge of PC-based word processing, spreadsheet and database application software. Demonstrated ability to proactively identify and resolve problems/issues needed, and good analytic skills.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience: Minimum 5 years related experience
Preferred:
APICS/CPIM Certificate or willingness to obtain
Experience in a repair and overhaul environment
