Job Description
Laboratory intern will support failure analysis and characterization projects by collaborating with laboratory staff. At the same time will learn operation of laboratory and collaborate in the enhancement of documentation related to different processes.
Essential Responsibilities
Execute with guidance tasks related to assigned laboratory projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures, and as well meeting the product/program requirements. Work within the guidelines of applicable GE Policies and Procedures, Engineering Standards, Design Customer Operating Procedures, Specifications, Government and Commercial Standards, and special security requirements.
Learn and develop technical capabilities concurrent with the execution of the position’s responsibilities as pertaining to laboratory projects Support on the documentation of technical data generated to assist on laboratory projects. Monitor and communicate tasks status and issues as pertaining to assigned projects.
Concurrently work on multiple projects by performing assigned tasks, monitoring progress, quality and ensuring schedule requirements are met. Support operation, quality, and lean initiatives in materials laboratory Meet team quality procedures and templates. Understand and communicate effectively with internal laboratory leaders and peers. Strict safety procedures, safety check and quality requirements Keep organization and clean procedures (5s methodology) along with compliance to EHS lab requirements.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Student in 6 semester of a Bachelor’s Degree in Materials, Chemical Engineering or associated experience with materials science, failure analysis and laboratory activities if from other career.
- Effective written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish.
- English Skills: Must be able to maintain a normal day-to-day fluid conversation on any topic with few mistakes (mistakes that will not affect getting the message through). Must have fluency and rhythm and sufficient self-confidence in the language to be able to have a technical conversation.
- Presentation Skills: Ability to communicate with peers and across functions
- Strong Teamwork and eager to collaborate in an inclusive environment

Desired Characteristics.
- Experience in failure analysis or laboratory work.
- Knowledge of superalloys, stainless steels, and/or laboratory materials research related activities.
- Self-Driven and highly motivated person, with curiosity for learning and oriented to business results.
- Passion for processes improvement and good organization skills
- Strong technical aptitude and an analytic approach to problem solving, clear thinker
