The Senior Technical Buyer reports to the Procurement Manager. This role is responsible for the sourcing and purchasing of technical materials to support MRO operations. Additionally, the role involves vendor management, bid evaluation, and fulfillment coordination. This role requires familiarity with airframe systems, materials, tooling and equipment along with a strong understanding of procurement processes and related business functions.
- Purchasing: Ensures assigned requisitions are actioned timely, efficiently, and in conformance with contracts, and in compliance with company policies.
- Fulfillment: Ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of requisitioned materials and services.
- Market Analysis: Analyze market intelligence to identify best practices, key trends and refine managed category structure and purchasing activities as necessary to deliver ongoing procurement effectiveness.
- Ongoing Spend Analysis: Review purchasing data to identify spending patterns, trends, fulfillment performance, and opportunities for cost savings.
- Purchasing Activity Monitoring: Resolve issues of non-compliant purchase orders, open orders pending closure, and assure documentation and transactional validation with 3-way matching.
- Technical Package Review: Work closely with Technical Operations and scheduled maintenance planning to review material requirements and plan sourcing and fulfillment activity to effectively meet specifications, pre-draw requirements, and overall production schedules.
- Sourcing and Vendor Selection: Identify, evaluate, and select vendors and service providers capable of meeting requirements, technical specifications, delivery, and regulatory compliance.
- Negotiation: Negotiate one-time purchases, blanket purchase orders, long-term supply agreements (LTA), and other assigned contracts to ensure best value.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure favorable pricing, quality, and service level performance.
- Risk Management: Employ risk mitigation techniques related to procurement activities, including supply chain disruptions, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance.
- Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal customers and stakeholders to develop requirements, statements of work, requests for quotes, and requests for proposals.
- Other Related Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned by the Procurement Manager and/or Director of Procurement.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, or related area of study, or equivalent years’ experience.
- 5+ years’ direct experience in procurement, purchasing, or related roles in aerospace required.
- Must possess strong business acumen and a highly professional and accountable demeanor.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, relationship skills, and attention to accuracy.
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Proficiency in business system and tools, including ERP systems and e-procurement platforms.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CPP, CPPM, CSCP) are a plus.
