Job Description:

SUMMARY

Assisting in procurement of raw material, components, assemblies, supplies and services while adhering to schedules and budgets.  Procurement is based on purchase requisition and MRP requirements, in accordance with established processes and policies, in support of production, spares, repair and overhaul and special projects. Work is of a complex nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, analytical work and a high level of independent judgment.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Support purchasing activities including request for proposals, purchase orders, receiving discrepancies, invoice discrepancies, supplier development actions, new supplier qualification support, supplier returns and other supply chain management support as assigned.
  • Assist on special projects and programs for the Supply Chain Department related to acquiring goods, services, and equipment for the organization.
  • Participate in initiatives, either improvement or strategic, are within the scope of this position and may include: In-sourcing or out-sourcing key activities; supplier rationalization; cost reduction programs; lead time reduction activities and process of technology deployment. 
  • Maintains a positive and professional approach and addresses multiple objectives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Primary objective is to assure that the quality, delivery and cost controls within his/her control meet or exceed all of our internal and external customers’ requirements.
  • Abide by the rules and regulations explained and provided at each orientation and training session.  Special attention must be given to the safety aspects. 
  • Other duties may be assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to generate quantitative improvements in supplier delivery, quality, and costs is very desirable.
  • The ability to understand and follow instructions and the ability to concentrate is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, and organization skills are required.
  • The successful candidate must be aggressive but yet professional on behalf of the company and comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Ability to work in a global environment and build trust with variety of cultures.
  • Self-motivated, persistent, hands-on, result oriented, well organized with ability to handle multiple projects within expected time frame.
  • Must be proactive and have a sense of urgency to meet the demands of all customers and have the ability to think ahead of potential problems.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Access to Export Control Information.
  • Regular attendance at the worksite.

 

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Ideal candidate would be actively pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, or Industrial Manufacturing Engineering.  Candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.

Special considerations are given to individuals with purchasing and supply management profession certifications such as: Institute of Supply Management's CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager), CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management), The Certified in Supply Management (CSM).
