Pacific Coastal Airlines is looking for a permanent part-time Aircraft Tow and Ramp Agent based in Vancouver. This position plays a key role in ensuring the safe and timely operation of aircraft ground services, including aircraft towing, loading and unloading baggage and cargo, marshalling aircraft to and from gates, and performing routine ramp operations. Pacific Coastal Airlines is headquartered at the South Terminal building at Vancouver International Airport. We fly scheduled and charter service between busy international airports, remote destinations in beautiful province of British Columbia.
Job Responsibilities:
- Safely tow aircraft to and from gates, ramps, hangars, and other designated airport locations, operating on controlled surfaces. Conduct pre-towing inspections of aircraft, ensuring all systems are functional and safe.
- Safely load and unload checked baggage, cargo, and mail from aircraft. Ensure baggage is correctly sorted according to destination, flight, and priority. Assist with special or oversized baggage handling as per airline procedures.
- Perform light cleaning duties on aircraft cabins, including removing trash, restocking supplies, and maintaining cleanliness before departure.
- Conduct thorough walk-around inspections of the aircraft to detect visible damage, debris, or safety hazards. Report and address any unsafe conditions or practices observed on the ramp.
- Assist with de-icing aircraft in winter conditions and adapt to various inclement weather conditions to maintain safe operations.
- Work closely with ground crew, flight crews, and airport staff to ensure timely and efficient aircraft turnaround and coordination of operations.
- Operate and maintain ground support equipment such as tugs, baggage carts, and fuel trucks. Perform regular safety checks on all equipment and report any issues promptly.
- Maintain professionalism and assist passengers with luggage inquiries or mobility assistance when required.
- Follow all safety protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and aviation regulations. Complete necessary paperwork, including towing logs and incident reports.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma (Required)
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an aviation-related role
- Experience operating heavy-duty vehicles or ground support equipment (e.g. tugs, tractors) is highly beneficial
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy luggage (up to 70 lbs)
- Proficient in helping customers requiring assistance in and out of aircraft
- Strong attention to detail, including identifying discrepancies in cargo, baggage, or equipment
- Ability to work efficiently outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- Valid BC Driver’s License required.
- Ability to operate various ground vehicles, including tugs, carts, and fuel trucks.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to work irregular hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance (RAIC) and Restricted Operator Certificate – Aeronautical.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Driver’s Airside Vehicle Operator Permit (D AVOP) and Forklift Operators Permit.
