JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Apprentice Lead (Airframe / Powerplant)
Department: Apprentice Program
Reports To: Apprentice Supervisor
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Apprentice Lead ensures progress of apprentices in the accomplishment of work process and related training as required per USDOL Standards of Apprenticeship Program and 14 CFR Part 65.77
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Coordinates and executes apprentice moves based upon Apprentice Program training requirements and 14 CFR Part 65.77 experience requirements.
2. Continually communicates and coordinates with maintenance department management and supervision to determine production and training needs and to determine progress and placement of apprentice personnel.
3. Plans, prepares, and provides instruction in assigned subjects/topic areas for both classroom and on the job training.
4. Designs effective training to meet apprentice program training needs and objectives.
5. Reports to Apprentice Supervisor on progress of program improvements, course development, and apprentice evaluations.
6. Mentors apprentices through OJT completion and professional development.
7. Administers work processes and related instruction as documented in the Standards of Apprenticeship.
8. Reviews current apprenticeship related training material for effectiveness and provides feedback to Apprentice Supervisor.
9. Maintains the tool room inventory, requests acquisition of new tools when needed and allocates area for disposition and accountability of broken tools.
10. Maintains a thorough working knowledge and adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulations.
11. Shall complete and submit 100 of staff related forms (timesheets, professional development forms, materials/supplies tracking forms, expense reports, and other required staff related documents) in accordance with directed timeline requirements.
12. Shall keep the Apprentice Supervisor well informed of activities, results of efforts, problems identified / potential problems, etc. and shall recommend corrective actions.
13. Shall immediately notify the Apprentice Supervisor of any and all support services that the apprentices may need. Will notify Apprentice Supervisor of any disciplinary issues.
14. Performs any other additional duties as assigned by the Apprentice Supervisor or Apprentice Program Manager.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Must be a high school graduate; prior aviation training background experience preferred. Airframe and or Powerplant mechanic’s certification required
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must have excellent oral and written skill and comprehension. Must have ability to give verbal and written direction to assigned staff

Employee will perform duties in multiple settings to include maintenance workshop, hangar maintenance, outdoor and office environments
