Aircraft plane captainBASIC FUNCTION SUMMARY
  • Responsible for associated functions including aircraft movement, preparation, washing and     lubrication of aircraft, as specified in accordance with DOD, manufacture and company directives.
  • Be responsible for your personal safety, tool control, operation of SE, use of appropriate special/peculiar test equipment; safety in fueling/de-fueling techniques on the flight line and     fueling pit areas; and HAZMAT procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Provide training when required.
  • Be capable of performing off-site related services, when directed.
  • Be capable of working any shift assignment under all weather conditions IAW the Hazardous Weather Plan.
  • Be capable of working overtime in accordance with the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Comply and participate in the FOD Program.
  • Responsible in the compliance with the Tool Control Program.
  • Will be capable of reading and interpreting all directives, publications and aircrew discrepancies
  • Will be knowledgeable on the functions of flight line operations maintenance procedures.
  • Will be required to operate NALCOMIS terminal for all required input data.
  • Will be required to document work performed on appropriate/applicable records.
  • Be physically capable and certified in meeting all duties outlined as an Aircraft Plane Captain, i.e.; tire changes, de-icing procedures, fueling/de-fueling and perform engine intake inspections.
  • Maintain training requirements applicable to all assigned duties; i.e.; corrosion control/prevention techniques, SE operations, fuel sampling/contamination procedures, oil sampling/consumption procedures, aircraft hand and wand signals, brake riding, aircraft security procedures, preservation of government and company owned equipment and perform other related duties in the assistance of work centers as required
  • Be licensed to operate all applicable SE required in the performance of your duties
  • Responsible for the use of all PPE.
  • Be familiar with company Quality and EH&S Management Documents.  Comply with all aspects of the Quality Objectives and EH&S policy statements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management in accordance with the current Collective Bargaining Agreement..

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
  • Shall have, as a minimum, two (2) years aircraft flight line experience in a DOD related environment.
  • Shall be familiar with aircraft basic maintenance concepts, launch, recovery procedures, egress systems, common hand tools, aircraft terminology, and normal operational safety requirements for the aircraft as outlined in the OPNAVINST 4790.2 series. 
  • Must be capable of completing a government approved Certification Program for type aircraft assigned; have a valid state operators license; and be capable of passing all government licensing requirements.   
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government secret security clearance. NOTE: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Physical Demands:

This classification’s activities range from, an office-like environment with extensive sitting demands to a flight line-like environment with extensive climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, and walking demands. May occasionally be required to lift objects whose weight exceeds 30 pounds. Special vision abilities to perform this job are close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.

Work Environment:

The diversity of work conditions may range from an office environment where there is little or no physical discomfort to a flight line environment where inclement weather may subject the individual to severe changes in temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and electrical shock hazards.
