JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Flight Simulator Technician
Department: Simulator
Reports To: Simulator Technical Manager, Lead Simulator Technician
POSITION PURPOSE:
Provide maintenance for Kalitta Air Flight Simulator equipment, ensuring maximum
availability to support companys operational training requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform daily pre training checks to prepare simulator for training
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on simulator equipment including checks, calibrations, testing and reporting
- Perform visual display system maintenance
- In brief and out brief training crews on simulator status and discrepancies
- Document and address any discrepancies reported during training
- Review outstanding discrepancies and correct with appropriate action.
- Troubleshoot a wide variety of simulation systems utilizing appropriate test equipment, diagnostic tools and technical data
- Repair and occasionally modify simulator systems/sub-systems.
- Perform simulator systems updates or modifications to keep current with aircraft
- Properly document all maintenance actions (including changes) made to simulator
- Systems/sub-systems
- Perform assigned tasks in a professional manner while working under tight time constraints and minimum supervision
- Interpret electronic, electrical, hydraulic and mechanical drawings.
- Research and order replacement parts as required.
- May include circuit board and simulated instrument repair
- Clean training device, computer room, hydraulic room and surrounding areas as required
- Perform assigned tasks in a professional manner while working under tight time constraints and minimum supervision
- Adhere to company and department procedures while performing duties
- Work rotating shifts to provide 24/7 coverage
- May include occasional travel.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Electronic technical degree or five years of electronics / avionics experience preferably in a flight simulator environment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read, write and understand spoken and written English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to give verbal and written direction to assigned staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to interpret electronic, electrical, hydraulic and mechanical drawings.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and in depth knowledge of electronic testing equipment
- Proficiency in repairing circuit boards and simulated instruments is an asset
- Must have good communications skills
- Ability to work well with others as part of a team
- Able to provide technical information to others by preparing written technical reports and correspondence in a clear and concise manner
- Self starter, performs duties with a sense of urgency but with attention to detail
- PC Computer literate. Familiar with Unix based operating systems and Fortran an asset.

- The job requires physical dexterity as well as mental acuity.
- The employee must frequently lift and or move up to 40 pounds; occasionally lifting and or moving up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Often works near moving mechanical parts, pressurized hydraulic systems and vibrating equipment.
- The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
- There is a moderate risk of electrical shock.
