Job Description SummaryIn this role you will be part of the Externals Hardware Owner (HWO) for engine external hardware. You will take part in the latest GE product design through product and technology maturation programs. You will have the opportunity to work and lead projects on different engine lines and design components. You will work in close collaboration with other global sites in developing new systems and technologies for next generation aviation products.Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
Strong design fundamentals and understanding of design criteria for pressurized systems working in Dynamic (Engine vibrations) environments.
Lead or execute NPI and NTI programs as per the TRL/MRL/ TG process guidelines.
May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults/ Collaborate with senior/ other team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions. Proactively identifies and helps others recognize lessons learned.
Conceptual or theoretical activities relating to identification and development, monitoring the productivity and reliability of new, conceptual, and untested technologies.
Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the business goals
Qualifications/Requirements
B. Tech. / M. Tech. in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering or equivalent degree.
10-15 years of relevant experience on design/analyses of gas turbine components. Preferably working on components subjected to dynamic environment.
Strong team player that believes in team success supersedes individual success.
Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market and execute programs.
Established project management skills. Demonstrated ability to work with across multi-disciplinary teams to solve complex problems.
Desired Characteristics
Understanding of Aircraft Engine externals components and certification requirements.
Good understanding of FEA (Structural- static & Dynamic, Thermal Analysis) and exposure to tools like ANSYS, Unigraphics and Hypermesh.
Strong design creativity and problem-solving capabilities.
Experience with new technology/methods development, engine testing & test correlations.
Ability to work in a cross-functional environment with strong communication and presentation skills.
Knowledge on Lean Six Sigma tools
