PRIMARY FUNCTION

The performs and supervises aircraft electrical and environmental (E & E) functions and activities. Troubleshoots, inspects, removes, installs, repairs, modifies, overhauls, and operates integrated E&E systems, components, and associated support equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Inspects and evaluates aircraft E&E maintenance activities. Determines operational status of assigned assets. 

  • Maintains, repairs, and fabricates electrical wiring, harnesses, and connectors.

  • Conducts operational checks and repairs / replaces damaged components and systems.

  • Performs cryogenic maintenance on aircraft and aircraft servicing units.

  • Maintains compressed gas equipment.

  • Inspects, troubleshoots, and maintains aircraft E & E systems, subsystems, components, and associated test equipment.

  • Performs on-equipment maintenance in areas such as direct and alternating current; gas turbine compressors and auxiliary power units; landing gear, anti-skid, and nose wheel steering; electronic engine control, ignition, and starting; lighting; master caution and warning; take-off warning; flight control; cargo door and cargo delivery equipment; non-electro static application (NESA) windows; anti-icing; fire and overheat warning; fire extinguishing and suppression; fuel control; liquid cooling; air conditioning, bleed air, cabin pressurization, and auxiliary pressurization; oxygen; and aircraft utility systems.

  • Performs off-equipment maintenance in areas such as E&E system components and associated test equipment. 

  • Assists in T-38 aircraft jacking, lifting, mooring, and towing operations.

  • Inspects and evaluates aircraft E&E maintenance activities. Determines operational status of assigned assets.

  • Interprets inspection findings and determines adequacy of corrective actions.

  • Inspects and checks components for clearances, tolerances, proper installation, and operation.

  • Reviews maintenance forms, aircraft records, automated maintenance data systems, and historical reports to ensure complete documentation.

  • Performs pre-use inspections and operates powered and non-powered aerospace ground equipment.

  • May be required to perform entry and maintenance tasks in confined spaces.

  • Recommends methods to improve equipment performance and maintenance procedures.

  • Uses automated maintenance systems. Inputs, validates, and analyzes data processed to automated systems.

  • Inspects, clears, and closes out completed maintenance discrepancies in automated maintenance systems.

  • Document maintenance as per Quality Assurance (QA) and established regulatory requirements.

  • Stores, handles, and disposes of hazardous waste and materials according to environmental standards and company processes.

  • Inventories and maintains alternate mission equipment. Inventories and maintains aircraft equipment.

  • Use automated maintenance systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, document maintenance actions, and time change database.

  • Perform regular Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walks.

  • Maintain strict tool control procedures. Report missing, lost, found, or unattended tools to the supervisor. Inventory and inspect tools on a regular basis and replace worn or broken tools.

  • Comply with safety rules and regulations while performing day to day maintenance. Promptly report all accidents, injuries, safety violations, and/or unsafe practices or procedures to supervisor.

  • Maintain equipment records. Enter in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verify the work was performed satisfactorily.

  • The Aircraft Electrical and Environmental Systems Technician will be required to perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned tasks.

Job Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Highly skilled in electrical, electronic, and mechanical principles relating to E & E systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering drawings, symbols used in wiring diagrams, blueprints, and schematics, technical documentation, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Strong decision analysis and problem-solving skills. Ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions. Must be able to communicate issues to management.

  • Highly knowledgeable in principles applying to T-38 aircraft systems.

  • Extensive knowledge in T-38 theory of aircraft flight, hydraulic principles, aircraft electrical concepts, and servicing concepts.

  • Knowledgeable in Air Force Technical Order system, supply procedures, and deficiency reporting procedures.

  • Intermediate computer skills specifically using Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs. Working knowledge of advanced software applications is preferred.

  • Ability to enter data accurately into databases and write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Interpersonal skills are necessary to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff. Will also routinely interact with other crew members.

  • Must possess effective oral and technical written communication skills to clearly communicate information to others.

  • Ability to use general office equipment such as fax, phone, copier, scanner, printers, etc.

  • Ability to follow processes.

  • Strong professional customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service and follow-up.

  • Ability to learn and understand corporate policies and procedures and how they relate to Yulista goals.

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.

  • High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently.

  • Willingness to assist teammates in accomplishing task.

  • Ability to multi-task.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • 8+ years of tactical Aircraft Electrical and Environmental Systems experience with fixed / rotary wing commercial, Government or DOD aircraft.

  • Previous Air Force Specialty Code 2A6X6 Aircraft Electrical and Environmental Systems highly desirable.

  • Multi aspect aviation qualifications / certifications / disciplines and ability to train these skills a must.

  • Experience supporting DoD contracts.

  • Strong knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within depot level maintenance.

  • Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airplane and/or Powerplant certification a plus

  • Background in TCTO application a plus.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance.
