Aircraft Systems Installer/Mechanic (Full Time)

Aircraft Systems Installers/Mechanics compensation range (based on experience level) $20- $35/hr

Our Aircraft Systems Installers/Mechanics are responsible for assisting the team in the production of our high-quality Piper aircraft that support the Piper Aircraft brand. Our Aircraft Systems Installers/Mechanics are tasked to follow Piper drawings, process specifications (PPS) and other manufacturing instructions to meet or exceed planned production and delivery schedules while maximizing company resources to achieve company goals.

The below outline for our Aircraft Systems Installers/Mechanics Career Path provides the pay range and essential functions/job skills at every level within the Career Progression program.
Aircraft Systems Installer I ($20/hr- $24/hr)
Essential Job Functions: Performs or assists the Supervisor in the following tasks:
Install aircraft mechanical, electrical & hydraulic system components and other aircraft sheet metal, fiberglass, composite or other material parts such as doors, cowls, fairings, floorboards, windows and windshields, flight control surfaces, landing gears, etc
Inspect and buy off own work using Piper inspection certifications.
Maintain the departments compliance with Piper QAM/QIM and FAA requirements.
Interface within the department to resolve quality concerns in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Rework discrepancies as necessary. Assist with performing major and regular Material Review Board repairs, Standard repairs and modifications of aircraft due to customer directed or design changes.
Conduct training and cross training of Team Members to attain acceptable levels of performance.
Support continuous improvement efforts to improve the teams performance including schedule delivery, reduction of late work, elimination of quality defects & scrap, increasing productivity and generating cost reductions.
Assist the department in maintaining effective Safety, Environmental Protection, FOD and Tool Control, 5S and other assigned programs.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
Aircraft Systems InstallerII($23/hr- $27/hr)
Essential Job Functions: Performs or assists the Supervisor in all of the tasks listed above as well as the following tasks:
Perform system operational and functional checks as necessary on fuel, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, powerplant, and other aircraft control or environmental systems
Inspect and buy off own and other team members work using Piper inspection certifications.
Interact with Team Members & Pipers Manufacturing Support Teams as well as vendors, equipment suppliers, etc. when appropriate.
Rework major discrepancies as necessary. Performs major and regular Material Review Board repairs, Standard repairs and modifications of aircraft due to customer directed or design changes
Provide assistance when required during new product development, design, build and testing. This may periodically involve augmenting Experimental Flight Test Department in a variety of capacities in order to achieve critical program milestones.
Assist with root cause and corrective action of nonconforming material in order to reduce defects and scrap material.
Improve departmental performance by completing cost savings activities such as tooling improvements, eliminating waste, etc.
Train teammates in departmental requirements such as Safety, Environmental Protection, FOD and Tool Control, 5S and other assigned program requirements.
Perform duties of lower graded position in Career Path and other duties as assigned by supervision.

Aircraft Systems Mechanic I ($26hr- $30/hr)
Essential Job Functions: Performs or assists the Supervisor in all of the tasks listed above as well as the following tasks:
Performs critical aircraft mechanical, electrical & hydraulic system installs and functional checks.
Able to perform and troubleshoot multiple critical jobs, such as, Engine rigging, control surface rigging and function checks, Gear systems installs and function checks, air conditioning charging, radar pod install, main entry door fit/trim/installs, fairing installs, engine cowl fit/trim/install, fuselage pressurization checks, and instrument panel installs
Performs at a high level of quality and productivity. Assists other team members to achieve a high level of quality and productivity.
Inspect and buy off own and other team members work using Piper inspection certifications.
Maintain departmental compliance with Piper QAM/QIM and FAA requirements.
Interface with other departments regarding quality concerns to resolve expeditiously and in a cost-effective manner.
Troubleshoot and re-work all major discrepancies as necessary. Primary point of contact for performing major and regular Material Review Board repairs, Standard repairs and modifying aircraft due to customer or design directed changes.
Act as the technical liaison between Pipers Manufacturing Support Teams as well as vendors, equipment suppliers, etc. when appropriate.
Conduct or coordinate training and cross training of Team Members attain acceptable levels of performance.
Drive continuous improvement efforts to enhance the teams performance including schedule delivery performance, reduction of late work, elimination of quality defects & scrap, increasing productivity and generating cost reductions. Assists with data collection, review and report generation.
Work with other manufacturing areas to ensure production readiness for design changes. Provides assistance when required during new product development, design, build and testing. Ensure the department maintains compliance with Safety, Environmental Protection, FOD and Tool Control, 5S and other assigned program requirements.
Audit all departmental programs for effectiveness

Aircraft Systems Mechanic II ($29hr- $32/hr)
Essential Job Functions: Performs or assists the Supervisor in all of the tasks listed above as well as the following tasks:
Work and assist with any job or help needed, even those outside the department assigned.
Work special projects, assist with experimental systems or service center needs, and provide systems subject matter expert guidance for developmental aircraft incorporation into production line.
Work as a manufacturing representative during the FAA inspection and auditing of manufacturing processes
Perform duties of lower graded position in Career Path and other duties as assigned by supervision.
Senior Aircraft Systems Mechanic ($32hr- $35/hr)
Essential Job Functions: Performs or assists the Supervisor in all of the tasks listed above as well as the following tasks:
Leader of the area in systems installs and troubleshooting, assists with any and systems line needs and leadership needs of the company
Work with other manufacturing areas to ensure production readiness for design changes. Provide assistance when required during new product development, design, build and testing.
Monitors departmental throughput and helps implement actions to attain departmental schedule requirements.
Perform duties of lower graded position in Career Path and other duties as assigned by supervision
Minimum Qualifications
At least 18 years of age or older
High school diploma or equivalent
Successful completion Aircraft Systems/Mechanics program or 2 years experience preferred
Related Aircraft Manufacturing / Service Experience Requirements:
o Aircraft Systems Installer I: 2 years of experience
o Aircraft Systems Installer II: 2 - 5 years of experience
o Aircraft Systems Mechanic I: 2 years of experience
o Aircraft Systems Mechanic II: 2 - 5 years of experience
o Sr. Aircraft Systems Mechanic: 5 years of experience
Ability to work scheduled shift and hours, including overtime
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Use of hand and power tools as required
Follow all safety procedures
Ability to demonstrate sound judgement and effective communication skills (written and verbal).
Adhere to Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS) and other manufacturing instructions
