Quality Assurance (QA) Inspector
Qualifications/Requirements
- A high school diploma/GED with at least 3 years of machining experience or 1 year of precision machining inspection experience. (NDE not included)
- Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) symbols.
- Ability to understand blueprints, machining process sheets, and shop specifications.
- Moderate - heavy lifting (up to 50lbs), pushing, pulling, climbing, crawling, bending, and/or squatting/stooping or working in tight places or above shoulder height.
- Eyesight correctable to 20/20 required.
Essential Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprint, tooling prints, gage prints, specifications, GD&T and other quality documents pertaining to the manufacturing of products produced or purchased.
- Use inspection instruments including CMM’s, contour tracers, comparators, micrometers, gauge blocks, calipers, indicators, etc. to measure precision machined aircraft components.
- Perform necessary mathematical calculations as required with minimum amount of training.
- Conduct diversity of inspections which may include first piece inspections, in-process sampling, first article inspections, or final floor inspection of parts.
- Assist machinists with checking dimensions that cannot be measured at the machine.
- Verifying dimensions taken at the machine with 1 over 1 inspection.
- Check parts for conformity to processes and specifications.
- Follow standardized procedures with allowable variations defined.
- Devise ordinary gaging/measuring setups.
- Notify supervisor in case of excessive defects.
