Boeing Defence United Kingdom (BDUK), through its Aircraft Support Programme, provides design and sustainment support services to multiple rotary and fixed wing aircraft including, AH-64E, CH-47, C-17, P8-A and E-7. The role:
The individual shall have a significant amount of demonstrated Chinook 55-L-714A engine, FADEC and T-62T-2B Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) experience, or equivalent experience on other power plant systems. Knowledge in aircraft maintenance procedures, practices, engineering standards and specifications to support the execution of repair and fault diagnostics in military or civilian fixed or rotary platforms covering mechanical and electrical aspects of aircraft and engine system and system integration. Note: all candidates with transferable experience will be considered.
The role of the Lead Field Service Representative (FSR) will be to primarily support the Chinook Engine Support Arrangement (CESA) program, delivering technical advice, repair, and fault diagnostics. The candidate will have a multiple customer facing roles across the respective design and coordinating design organisations, type, continuing airworthiness and maintenance organisations. This role is located at RAF Odiham but includes responsibilities at all CH47 operational locations, such as RAF Odiham, RAF Benson, Gosport and Middle Wallop.
Responsibilities:
The candidate will provide leadership in the execution of maintenance advice, technical investigations and repairs in accordance with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) AP 101C-0500-5 series publications along with Boeing and Honeywell manuals, drawings, standards and specifications. The individual will support their team and the customer by providing repair advice and associated technical data to perform in service maintenance.
The candidate will conduct research on technical, maintenance, operational and quality issues and undertake analytical investigations to evaluate user and supplier reported discrepancies that cannot be resolved by Customer.
The candidate will conduct on and off aircraft engine fault diagnostics using approved, and where permitted non-approved technical information and will apply knowledge of engineering, maintenance processes and data that are necessary to determine root causes of technical issues.
The candidate will have knowledge of the Chinook platform, the 55-L-714A engine (or alternate power plant systems), the Manual of Maintenance and Airworthiness Processes (MAP-01) and associated MAA Regulatory Publications (MRP) or civil equivalent.
The candidate must be able to apply knowledge of technical publications and instructions (e.g., Engine Repair Manual Engine and Airplane Maintenance Manual [AMM], Illustrated Parts Catalogue [IPC], Operations Manual [OPS], Component Maintenance Manual [CMM], Wiring Diagram Manual [WDM], Service Modification[SM], Engineering Instructions [EI] and Service Bulletins/Spare Parts Bulletins, Notes [SB/SPB/SN]).
The candidate will apply knowledge of engineering analysis to mechanical and electrical system design, etc. to develop, maintain and analyze technical data to resolve problems for aircraft components and systems to support safe and efficient operation and continued airworthiness.
The candidate will apply technical knowledge to implement solutions to customer requirements, questions and concerns, interfacing with company and supplier technical experts when appropriate. Knowledge of engine test beds and second line repair is desirable but not essential.
The individual will be responsible in actively supporting Cost Reduction Initiative (CRI), Continuous Improvement (CI) and Employee Engagement type events. When required you may also be directed to conduct “Over and Above” tasking for the benefit of the team and organisation e.g. conduct best practice activity to maintain and improve standards for all Boeing engineering functions.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
- A significant amount of demonstrated Military, Civil, Rotary Wing or fixed wing experience and knowledge in aircraft maintenance procedures, practices, engineering drawings, standards and specifications to support the sustainment of platform propulsion systems. This shall cover engine and engine integration systems. Due to the complex integration of the mechanical systems and engines with the data management system, a level systems knowledge of the avionic/electrical aspects is desirable.
- An extensive knowledge of repair, maintenance, and retrofit processes and practices.
- Extensive and specialized knowledge of UK MOD / civil aircraft maintenance processes, policies, organisation, capabilities, practices, support resources, preferences, problems, and other constraints in order to represent the customer within the Boeing Company. Knowledge and experience of MoD projects, preferably but not essential CH-47 Chinook related is advantageous.
- Knowledge of the Manual of Maintenance and Airworthiness Processes (MAM-P), associated MAA Regulatory Publications (MRP) and Defence Standards pertaining to maintenance, aircraft repairs and pre and post-delivery aircraft modifications.
- Extensive and specialised ability to analyse and interpret product data (e.g. Engineering drawings, Part Lists, Supplier data, Wiring Diagrams and Schematics)
- Ability to research and apply engineering principles to determine solutions to technical, operational and quality issues.
- Strong customer focus with the capacity to communicate effectively with relevant stakeholders in order to resolve problems.
- Effective collaboration with team members, other employees and external customers. Placing higher priority on team and organisation goals above personal goals is essential.
- Ability to direct, communicate clearly, delegate and ensure performance of assigned responsibilities and tasks as a project team leader.
- An understanding of financial performance metrics, and ability to apply cost and schedule variance analysis techniques.
- Previous experience with UK MOD Resolve, GOLDesp or other Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP) is desirable.
- An Engineering degree with CEng or IEng registration is desired, or a significant amount of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in the field of aircraft depth and fleeted maintenance.
