Job Description:

Reata Jet (Formerly APEX Flight Solutions) is looking for a qualified and capable Director of Maintenance. This position at our operation has both functions as an administrative job, and a wrench on the floor. Manage maintenance functions, ensure compliance with FAA regulations, company policies and procedures. Efficiently manage scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance events, work orders/projects, and lead technicians as necessary. Oversee and assist with the acquisition and tracking of parts, components, supplies, and help maintain the condition and organization of the facility. Provide expertise and assist on the shop floor with any tasks as needed. The goal here is to minimize surprises, embarrassment, and run a well prepared efficient operation. We are a growing company, and we have a lot of equipment, and do a lot for our size. We perform all inspections on our Hawkers, Merlin’s and Citations in house. Our atmosphere is positive and up-beat, with a willingness to take on challenges, and overcome them. We are management, charter, brokerage/consultation, and maintenance operation, and focus on delivering the level of service that is expected of people who own this caliber of aircraft. We also like to think outside the box. The salary will depend on experience and qualifications. 

Job Requirements:
  • Manage Work Orders
  • Coordinate Technicians
  • Oversee Parts Orders
  • Update Aircraft Logbooks, AML Forms, MEL’s, CDL’s, NEF’s, etc. 
  • Assist with and perform maintenance tracking software updates (primarily TRAXXALL)
  • Be a subject matter expert, a Team Leader, and Enjoy what you do
  • Knowledge of logbook research, and ability to perform Aircraft Conformity Inspections for Part 135, and aircraft imports/exports
  • Verification of all Maintenance Documentation prior to flight release of the aircraft.
  • Assist with and/or perform aircraft database updates.
  • Ability to lead/perform a pre-purchase inspection and evaluation 
  • Coordinate aircraft inspections and due items schedule with flights, forecast due maintenance and coordinate with Chief Pilot, DO, and company president, and aircraft owner as required 
  • Troubleshoot and research as necessary to complete maintenance tasks as required or assigned by company owners.
  • Perform in-depth publication research such as completion drawings, wiring schematics, AMM and CMM research, etc.
  • Perform preparatory work for maintenance activities, including gathering equipment, materials, and supplies, loading and unloading materials, and laying out materials and equipment for projects
  • Procure quotes for outside maintenance services as necessary and continue to develop and maintain positive relationships with organizations.
  • Acquire technical publications required to perform tasks and assist technicians.  
  • Source, negotiate, acquire, and track parts based on job needs. Work with maintenance coordinator to maintain inventories and ship outgoing as necessary. 
  • Assist technicians on the floor as necessary with various tasks, including general maintenance, cleaning, aircraft stocking, and preflights.  
  • Ensure the work area is maintained in a neat and orderly manner and that all safety rules and regulations are observed
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines and equipment continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate
  • Perform cleanup at the end of the day or when the job is completed, including picking up tools, spills, and debris cleaning work areas and performing touch up work as needed
  • Assist with hiring and other HR responsibilities for the maintenance organization. 
  • Set up meeting areas for meetings and events
  • Assist with safety training as necessary
  • Report any issues or problems that may arise to the management 
  • Comply with state, federal, and all other applicable health care and safety standards
  • Assist families and other visitors as needed
  • Attend in-services and other required meetings
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned
  • Proficient with computers, both desktop and mobile, Mac/PC. Must be able to create, use, and improve spreadsheets, advanced email use, advanced file storage and organization, quickly learn and navigate various technical software. 
  • Self-starting - having the ability to identify and complete tasks with minimal assistance 
  • Works well in a team
  • High school diploma or equivalent; minimum of 3 years of previous experience in a maintenance position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Language Ability - Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Written Communication - Writes clearly and informatively; able to read and interpret written information
  • Verbal Communication - Talks to others to convey information effectively
  • English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
  • Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Troubleshooting & Repairing - Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it. Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools. Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
  • Building and Construction - Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings or other structures
  • Equipment Maintenance & Repair Performance of routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed
  • Finger Dexterity The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects
  • Planning/Organizing - Prioritizes and plans work activities; advises for additional resources
  • Attendance/Punctuality - Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; arrives at meetings and appointments on time
  • Dependability - Commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals; completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan
  • Professionalism - Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; accepts responsibility for own actions
  • A&P FAA Mechanic Certificate
  • Experience on some or all of the following aircraft: Hawkers, Swearingen/Fairchild Merlin/Metro, Lear 45/75, Falcon 900, CJ4, Citation 500 Series 

STRONGLY REQUESTED:

  • I.A. FAA certification
  • Approved training course on one of the above listed aircraft types. 
  • Experience with maintenance tracking software: Traxxall (Classic/360), CAMP, SierraTraxx
  • Experience with Part 135 maintenance operations

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

  • The employee may be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds without assistance. Employee occasionally must lift up to 100 pounds with assistance
