Flight School Fleet Maintenance Manager
Job Description:

About the role:
University Air Center is seeking a full-time A&P licensed mechanic with inspection authorization to manage its growing fleet of flight school aircraft.  The flight school maintenance manager would be responsible for performing aircraft maintenance, tracking required inspections, and overseeing the work of 1-2 additional A&P mechanics.   We currently operate 10 aircraft: 5 Cessna 172s, 2 Piper Warriors, a Cessna 210, a Piper Aztec, and a Cirrus SR22.  The flight school uses Paperless 141 to track and manage aircraft maintenance.  The maintenance department uses Corridor to document maintenance tasks performed.  All tasks are completed with safety in mind.  A&P's must maintain accurate records of work performed and follow all FAR and UAC policies, manuals, procedures and requirements.

About you:

You are detail oriented, avoid cutting corners, and love working with machines.  You are familiar with FARs and have experience working on a variety of general aviation aircraft.  You are precise and neat and you take great pride in a job well done.  You have good computer skills and are able to use software to track and document maintenance performed on a fleet of 10 aircraft.  You have the ability to direct the work of 1 or 2 additional A&P mechanics who would work with you on maintaining the flight school aircraft fleet.

About us:

University Air Center (UAC) is a family-owned aviation company headquartered in Gainesville, FL. In addition to serving Gainesville Regional Airport as the sole fixed-base operator (FBO), UAC operates a Part 135 charter airline, a Part 141 flight school, a Cessna and Cirrus certified aircraft maintenance and repair facility, and a Garmin avionics dealership. UAC’s fleet of aircraft includes Citation and Eclipse jets, an Aztec multi-engine, Cessna and Piper pistons, a Cessna Caravan, and Cirrus SR-22s.

We pride ourselves in being a vital community asset. Our Charter team flies medical missions for multiple transplant programs as well as supporting the safety and availability of the southeastern US blood and tissue supply. Our flight school grows the careers of future pilots and our maintenance team is trusted by both commercial and private pilots alike to keep their planes in top running form. Additionally, we serve the commercial, military, and general aviation communities providing fuel and line services on a 24/7/365 basis.

Job Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Current A&P license is required.
  • Inspection Authorization Required
  • Six months of documented experience within the last 2 years is required.
  • 2+ years of commercial experience is desired.
  • Must have the minimum tools needed to work.
  • Must have solid computer skills (UAC uses Paperless 141 and Corridor for maintenance tracking of flight school fleet)
  • This is an FAA Safety Sensitive position so candidates most pass an FAA-DOT pre-employment drug screen.
  • This is a TSA controlled commercial airfield so candidates must pass an FBI background check in order to have airfield credentials.
  • All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
