Amentum is currently searching for a Ground Support Equipment Worker to work in our Solomons Island, Maryland location.
Job Summary:
The Ground Support Equipment Worker makes repairs to Ground Support Equipment (GSE) following orders of a higher-grade worker, troubleshooting malfunctions of GSE using conventional and digital multi-meters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers, and hand tools, prepares GSE for storage and transportation, uses automated maintenance data systems to maintain equipment records, and document maintenance actions, maintains external fuel and grounding systems. This worker performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on GSE, inspects, tests, and operates GSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation, services equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air, disassembles and assembles malfunctioning GSE accessories and components. In addition, the Ground Support Equipment Worker removes, disassembles repairs, cleans, treats for corrosion, assembles, and reinstalls GSE components and accessories, stencils and marks GSE in accordance with technical publications, stores, handles, labels, uses, and disposes of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations, operates, cleans, inspects, and services GSE towing vehicles; maintains vehicle records, maintains and updates paper and electronic equipment records, provides dispatch service for GSE, including positioning equipment to support aircraft maintenance and flying operations, and practices good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention and safety at all times.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or fee; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is regularly exposed to hot and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme HOT; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, or may include unsafe conditions, questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues. Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance. Position may require travel.
Minimum Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Two (2) or more years of experience working on GSE or equivalent equipment.
Experience in use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned tasks.
Must read, understand and implement the general and specific operational, safety, quality and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures and policies pertaining to his/her job.
Must have a High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Must have a valid drivers license.
Pre-employment drug screening is required.
Must be able to obtain Department of the Navy Local Population ID Card/Base Access Pass Registration.
Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience and/or appropriate training in functions such as Inspection maintenance and repair on various ground support equipment or equivalent equipment.
Diesel and electrical mechanic experience is a plus.
Able to work efficiently with minimum supervision.
