  • Role Purpose

    To represents Saudia at the Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) for the assigned project and is responsible for overseeing and managing the covered work during aircraft maintenance visit. This role is responsible for managing a team of professionals involved in various aspects of the maintenance visit onsite. Will also assist in developing policies, procedures and tactical objectives to ensure all schedule/unscheduled Maintenance Activities in Heavy Maintenance are accomplished on-time and to GACA and SV regulatory requirements and Quality standards.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Accountable for the management of Heavy Maintenance functions onsite at the assigned AMO, required to ensure all schedule/unscheduled Maintenance activities are coordinated and managed with the onsite MRO team and Saudia.
    • Work with the assigned MRO’s, Planning, Engineering and Supply Chain to ensure all Production Control activities are managed effectively.
    • Participate in daily onsite production status meetings and update schedules.
    • Hold a commanding presence at the assigned AMO’s to not only monitor but drive MRO activities with the overall goal of improving TAT, without impact to quality or standards.
    • Follow-up and escalate in case of dispute, work to improve project milestone activities and deadlines.
    • Review and accept, or escalate in case of dispute, work performed on aircraft in reference to Saudia Procedures and standards.
    • Lead, guide and direct the materials coordinator and assigned planner.
    • Ensure that all maintenance tasks, including inspections and repairs, are thoroughly documented, and recorded in the Maintenance Information System (MIS).
    • Act as the primary point of contact between SAUDIA and AMO facility, facilitating communication and addressing any concerns or queries.
    • Inspect and approve completed maintenance tasks and documentation to ensure they meet SV quality and safety standards.
    • Ensure that necessary resources, parts, and support are available and properly utilized by the AMO during the maintenance visit.
    • Identify and report any discrepancies or issues to the AMO and work collaboratively to resolve them promptly.
    • Provide the AMO Project Management Lead (PML) with input required for procedure and process improvements.
    • Review, challenge if deemed necessary and support changes implemented by the AMO Project Management Lead.
    • In reference to the SV maintenance program, will suggest improvements and enhancements to the maintenance program to improve durability, reduce line maintenance burden, improve corrosion prevention and control.
    • Monitors labor loading on the aircraft to support TAT and critical path adherence.
    • Recommends material allocations to support TAT and critical path adherence.
    • Coordinate with remote structural engineer and AMO regarding repairs and dent mapping.
    • Provides detailed Aircraft Daily Status Report to SV planning department, highlighting completed tasks, in-progress tasks and deviations and/or risks to the schedule.
    • Additional Work Requests (AWR) review and approval of all associated work orders and invoices, challenges overbilling, provides financial approval of invoices against their projects.
    • Reviews and challenges contractual compliance and drives warranty management.
    • Communicate with all relevant stakeholders on the progress of each heavy maintenance check and aircraft serviceability, including limitations and delays affecting heavy Maintenance.
    • Ensure tooling, equipment, rotatable, spares, consumables and approved facilities are available, serviceable and optimal for the intended maintenance scope and planned work in advance of aircraft arrival.
    • Ensure that all maintenance tasks are recorded accurately & signed for to maintain correct & up to date aircraft history /data.
    • Execute the aircraft maintenance activities efficiently and on-time, mitigate all heavy maintenance interruptions to prevent recurrence on future checks.
    • Responsible for recommending enhancement processes and procedures to effectively contribute to improve productivity and aircraft on time deliveries from Heavy Maintenance Function.
    • Ensure that any corrective action resulting from quality monitoring audits are completed in a timely manner.
    • Manage and Report incidents / accident occurrences as per company and regulatory procedures, assists to facilitate safety investigations and root cause analysis to prevent repeat occurrences in future.
    • Monitor the aircraft 30 days post check for in-service reliability issues caused from the check.
    • Perform safety walks at least once per day at the facility whilst work is in progress, report all findings to SVT quality and the MRO quality leadership as per GMM procedures.
    • Adhere to the company safety, health, and environmental policy.
    • Promotes Safety culture through implementation of SMS processes and formal Risk Assessments when implementing operationally significant changes.
    • Implements the Human Factors and Human Performance principles and awareness in the working environment.
    • Ensures a safe and secure working environment for Saudia employees. Promotes quality of work, safety and security awareness.
    • Provides the appropriate time, training, resources and encouragement to Saudia employees to support their involvement in the on-going development of Saudia’s Safety Management System and Safety Culture.
    • Coach, mentor and inspire staff within the heavy maintenance team to enhance their productivity engagement.
    • Leads by example in terms of self-discipline and accuracy in his/her duties and motivates team to follow respectfully.
    • Behaves in a manner to reflect a professional approach when representing Saudia and dealing with both internal and external customers.
    • Performs regular meetings with staff in terms of performance review, training (lessons learnt), management and improvement issues.
    • Reviews and plans training for his/her direct reports, to enhance and upskill the team.
    • Undertaking such other duties as may be reasonably requested by the Heavy Maintenance Manager.
Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualification

    • Holds a Valid Aircraft Maintenance License from GACA/GCAA/ FAA/ ICAO Type II/EASA License plus has or had previously held applicable aircraft type authorization.
    • Specialist Knowledge of Aviation Legislation/Regulations
    • Excellent Communication Skills
    • Project Management Skills
    • Proficiency in computer applications and Maintenance Information system (MIS).

Minimum Experience

    • Minimum 7 years of aircraft maintenance experience, 2 of which should have been in a supervisory role in Base Maintenance preferably with similar types to SV Fleet (B777/A320/B787/A330).
    • Holds direct working experience with heavy maintenance MRO’s, OEM’s and Regulatory Authorities.
    • Holds experience pertaining to Aircraft Heavy Maintenance requirements and working environment, experienced with processes and necessary workflows.
    • Experienced in leading and developing a team of maintenance professionals in a frequently changing environment with continuously changing work-load schedules.
