We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with some design experience who is willing to learn and grow in composite design. The successful candidate will have support of more experienced design engineers and help us make advances in aircraft engine structural component design. This role is vital to the development of our next generation of aircraft engines.
This position has the flexibility of optional hybrid schedule once fully trained. The hybrid schedule consists of working in the office minimum of 3 days per week and the option to work from home on the other days, based on team/project schedules.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical and/or electrical engineering and/or materials engineer and/or applicable specialist for all products.
- Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
- In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
- Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
- A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. Provides informal guidance to new team members.
- Prepares/participates in invention disclosures to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage, as well as protecting the intellectual property rights of the company
- Provides technical guidance and clear direction to new engineers, specialists, technicians, and co-ops/interns as needed by the role.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- At least 3 additional years of experience in an engineering design position.
Desired Characteristics
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
- Established project management skills.
- Composite design experience.
- FMEA (ANSYS solver, Hypermesh software, and CAD Modeling via NX PLM Teamcenter software) experience.
- Programing skills (C++, Matlab, Python, … or other equivalent software).
