Job Description SummaryThe Large Military Engines Cold Section Lead Engineer Mechanical Design role will primarily support NPI (New Part Introduction) efforts on NGP (Next Generation Products) design, including new part design, component analysis, conducting design reviews, and provide engineering support . This position may also encompass supporting legacy engine engineering support (customer improvement projects, MRB, SPS, CIDs, etc).
This role will build and leverage multiple skill sets including project execution, technical leadership, analysis, design, and hardware ownership.
This position is hybrid-capable, requiring work on-site Tuesdays-Thursdays.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Design support of the NGP HPC (high pressure compressor) and fan rotors.
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
- Provide support to manufacturing programs for MRBs, QEMs, SPRs and SPSs (Materials Review Board; Quality Event Management; System Performance Review; Significant Process Substantiation)
- Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy
- In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
- Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 3 years experience in Design Engineering
Desired Characteristics
- Demonstrated experience with rotating parts
- In-depth understanding of engineering technology and tools such as Ansys, Siemens NX, Finite Element Analysis and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Established project management skills.
- Jet engine design familiarization.
- Passionate, can-do, hands-on approach.
- Ability to guide and influence others.
