What you’ll need to bring with you:
Your Education:
A High school diploma or equivalent, and Airframe and Powerplant License are required. A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.
Your Experience :
- 5+ years’ experience as an A&P mechanic providing maintenance on one or more of the following engines: PW500, PW300, PWJT15, PWPT6, TFE731, HTF, BR700, PT6A, CF34, Tay 611, APU.
Your Initiative:
We’re looking for team players who are self-motivated and able to perform in a fast paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common. This position requires someone who can perform repairs effectively and quickly in short notice high-pressure situations
Your Sense of Responsibility:
Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments.
Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.
Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.
Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
Maintain customer oriented work habits.
Other particulars:
Physical Requirements
Work on elevated platforms (up to 40 feet in the air) using fall protection safety gear.
Stand or sit for prolonged periods while performing repairs.
Lift 70 lbs.
Operate basic hand tools and ground equipment.
Work in confined spaces.
Mental Requirements
Understanding and implementation of regulations, guidelines and technical manuals
Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation.
Work with others in a professional manner.
Learn and use technical manuals
Mechanical aptitude and ability to solve problems effectively
Problem solve by effectively reading and interpreting maintenance, wiring, and illustrated parts manuals
Communicate both in writing and orally in a clear and professional manner with co-workers, customers, and West Star Aviation leadership
Supervision
Work independently with minimal supervision
Mentor, supervise, and teach non-engine experienced technicians
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot.
Work outside during aircraft runs will occur.
Varied positions in and around the aircraft.
Equipment Used
Apple and Microsoft products, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel spreadsheets
Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment.
Jacks, stands, lifts and other support devices.
Tugs, power carts, and other engine-powered equipment.

The hourly rate for this position generally ranges from $30.00 to $65.00. Actual hourly rate will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, shift, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other forms of compensation include health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays, and paid vacation. Accepting ongoing applications.
