Job Description SummaryThe Maintenance Planner is a hands-on self-starter that works under limited supervision. They are responsible for the detailed planning of day-to-day inspections, repair and shutdown of maintenance activities of plant equipment in a PSM governed plant. The scope of work includes all corrective maintenance inspections, preventative maintenance, calibrations, shutdowns and small project work performed by site maintenance personnel and external service contractors. They will provide planning support for work which is less defined in scope by utilizing their understanding and experience in planning techniques and maintenance best practices to effectively control cost and add value to maintenance activities.Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead by example in all GE initiatives including EHS, HR, Six Sigma, Quality, and computerized maintenance management.
- Apply current industry best practices in the Planning of maintenance activities for a 24-hour PSM facility for the maintenance team and external maintenance contractors. Ensure Safety and quality are the primary focus of every activity.
- Utilizing the CMMS Maximo to manage work order backlog, ensuring all system data is updated, accurate, and compliant.
- Responsible for developing and implementing maintenance job plans to establish proper task sequence, duration, craft, tools, materials and parts to properly execute the job in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner
- Participate in weekly planning and scheduling meetings for multiple departments located in 2 separate PSM plants and develop maintenance plans for the maintenance team.
- Plan and requisition work activities with vendors and service contractors.
- Create and maintain libraries of detailed job plans for preventative, predictive, and improvement maintenance activities for plant equipment, buildings, and grounds. This includes cost, time, resources, tools, materials and parts.
- Use craft feedback to improve quality of job plans, parts and tools requirements.
- Make recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related and production-related problems
- Work with in-house contractor to manage spare parts and materials in storerooms and warehouse. Order maintenance parts and materials to support work execution. Track and improve minimum /maximum levels for spare parts and maintenance materials inventories in Maximo.
- Obtain proposal from suppliers/vendors, create requisitions for spare parts, onsite services and sending equipment offsite for repair.
- Network and attend training to stay current on industry trends and best practices.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelors Degree accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in maintenance planning/production experience)
Desired Characteristics
- Preferred 5+ years of relevant maintenance planning experience for instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical maintenance crafts within a manufacturing and skilled trade.
- Ability to effectively use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) Maximo (preferred).
- Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment such as PSM, medical, pharmaceutical, food, etc
- Demonstrated understanding in the development and execution of preventative and predictive maintenance practices.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of environmental, health and safety regulations, policies, and programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge to plan Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation repairs in an industrial setting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization. Technical writing experience is desired.
- Knowledge and understanding of building management and utility systems.
- Self-directed, excellent time management with strong organization and prioritization skills.
- Excellent collaboration and team building skills.
