Position Summary:
Maintenance Technicians work under direct supervision and perform basic duties such as draining fluids, changing belts, and performing miscellaneous general maintenance tasks on manual and NC machines while demonstrating the ability to properly use basic mechanical hand tools, e.g., wrenches, etc. The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of experience and evidence of strong mechanical aptitude.

- Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.

- Ensures that assigned machinery is kept in good working condition using preventive maintenance procedures and in accordance with manufacturer&39;s specifications
- Inspects equipment for broken or loose safety cables, bolts, nuts, sprints, wedges and shims. Repair or replace any parts found to be unacceptable.
- Check lubricators on the compressed air lines from the water separators in the compressed air supply lines.
- Checks the level of hydraulic oil reservoir, adds oil as needed, checks for oil leaks on hydraulic lines and fixes accordingly.
- Checks on furnaces and associated equipment following work order procedures.
- Rectifies faults and problems reported by production department under supervisor&39;s instructions.
- Carries out necessary repairs to the furnace linings.
- Assists contractors with installations.
- Disassembles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
- Repairs or replaces defective parts in hydraulic equipment such as valves, motors, cylinders and pumps; conditioning equipment such as grinding and abrasive blast machines; mobile hydraulic equipment; and other plant equipment as designated by supervisor.
- Lubricates and cleans parts.
- Starts devices to test their performance.
- Daily inspection and record keeping of various pieces of plant equipment.
- Changes or recharges batteries, and water pumps, hydraulic hoses and other parts.
- Repairs universal joint bearings, radiators, and changes seals on hydraulic cylinders.
- Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and adjusts.
- Keeps machinery areas clean.
- Must be familiar with fundamental electrical principles including but not limited to: AC/DC Voltage, Amperage, Resistance, Continuity, Capacitance, and Grounding
- Must be familiar with basic industrial electronics including but not limited to: contactors, limit switches, switches, circuit breakers, fuses, resolvers, and encoders.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, such as safety rules and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisors and other employees of the company.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Must be familiar with and be able to use some of the most important equipment in the shop.
Experience & Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- College degree and/or relevant certificate/s of completion from a technical school highly preferred but not required.
- 3+ years related experience.
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required.

Regularly exposed to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, extreme heat and vibration where LOTO and PPE must be used.
- Occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Work Environment:

- Manufacturing and laboratory environments. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.
