Position Summary:
To act as an assistant to the Maintenance Manager in all matters involving the Maintenance and production work performed on the assigned shift. Has the ability to stand in for the Maintenance Manager in that person’s absence.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

- Employee must have working knowledge of the plant operations in all Maintenance and production areas.
- Reviews production orders and maintenance schedules in order to plan plant operations.
- Follows production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
- Confers with department supervisors, vendors and managers to determine status of assigned projects and to resolve problems affecting production and maintenance schedules.
- Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
- Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
- Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
- Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
- Revises production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems.
- Compiles, stores, and retrieves maintenance data.

Required Skills:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret hydraulic and pneumatic schematics, mechanical drawings, manufacturer&39;s literature, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of supervisors or managers.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Monitor equipment operating conditions and keep records of those conditions.
- Use of hand tools.
Experience & Education
- Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
