Responsibilities
Parker Meggitt occupies a leading position in the design and manufacture of aircraft engine shell-and-tube and plate-and-fin heat exchangers. We are a significant supplier to both civil and military aviation, with products used on the majority of the latest aero-engines, including LEAP, PurePower and F135.
In this role you will be responsible for supporting production operations with a firm understanding of aerospace quality requirements and design principles. Your focus will be on sustaining engineering and improvements in engineering. Developing and recommending solutions to well‐defined engineering requirements; ensuring that design objectives are met.
The Role:
• To design and develop aircraft engine fuel and oil system thermal management products.• Responsible for ensuring that company products meet both customer specification and airworthiness requirements.• Participates directly in development programmes and functional initiatives.• Engages in problem solving to improve operational effectiveness.
Specific Accountabilities:
• Interpreting customer specifications and airworthiness requirements to define parameters for heat exchanger design.• Creation of design data including engineering drawings, 3D CAD models and bills of material.• Complete calculations to ensure products are within dimensional, material and performance limits.• Preparation of data to provide technical support for design reviews with customers.• Work closely with relevant Parker departments and external customers to address queries relating to all aspects of mechanical design.• Demonstrates service excellence to both internal and external customers by focusing directly on identification and satisfaction of their needs.
Who we are looking for
• Successful completion of a CEng accredited degree with strong Mechanical Engineering content.• Proven work experience in a product development engineering environment.
Preferred:• Experience in the use of commercial CAD software systems.• Knowledge of GD&T principles for component design and assembly.• Knowledge of manufacturing processes including, but not limited to, forging, casting, CNC machining, welding, brazing and sheet metal forming.• Understanding of Product Lifecycle Management systems.
