When products enter the field there are instances where the design does not function as expected or might not meet the demands of the customer. The role of the Mechanical Engineer is to investigate reported issues, design, and implement solutions with a focus on to reliability, maintainability, and cost. This role will require the successful candidate to have a foundation in root cause analysis skills, mechanical design, manufacturing practices, and the ability to work autonomously on larger and moderately sized projects.

What you will do:

  • Design mechanical solutions with a focus on product reliability, maintainability, manufacturability, and cost
  • Responsible for closing project tasks within the required timeframe
  • Presents solutions in review meetings and participates in review meetings to provide constructive feedback on design proposals
  • Able to communicate with parties within and outside of their own discipline. May have responsibility for communicating with parties external to the organization (e.g., customers, vendors, etc.)
  • Perform root cause analyses and develops corrective actions for in-service issues
  • Conducts/ coordinates reliability testing, abuse load testing and as circumstances dictate, may participate in, or coordinate certification testing
  • Ability to communicate with parties within and outside of the job function at an operational level regarding policies, procedures, and practices
  • Support the implementation of processes or standards to improve new products and continuous improvement activities

  • Project Management: Managing large and moderately sized projects will refine your project management abilities, teaching you how to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and drive projects to successful completion under tight timelines.
  • Testing & Certification Processes: You’ll gain hands-on experience with reliability testing, abuse load testing, and certification processes, which are critical in ensuring that products meet rigorous industry standards.
  • Continuous Improvement & Process Implementation: You’ll contribute to and learn from initiatives focused on improving processes and standards, giving you insights into how to drive continuous improvement in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Aerospace Industry Standards & Practices: Exposure to the aerospace industry’s specific requirements, including material selection, certification standards, and industry regulations, will broaden your knowledge and make you a more versatile engineer.

Qualifications you must have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position

Qualifications we prefer:

  • Thrives in Fast-Paced Environments: Adaptable and efficient, with the ability to navigate and excel in a rapidly evolving setting.
  • Root Cause Analysis & Field Investigations: Proven expertise in identifying and resolving complex issues.
  • Technical Proficiency: Knowledgeable in GD&T, drafting practices, and CAD tools (preferably Siemens NX), with a strong understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing principles.
  •   Aerospace Materials & Standards: Familiarity with aerospace materials and aircraft seating certification requirements is highly desirable.
  •   Analytical Skills: Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is a plus

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
