Job Description SummaryThe Military DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service members can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty to focus solely on training full-time with approved industry partners after unit commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) provides written authorization and approval. GE Aviation as a Skill Bridge partner offers real-world training and work experience in in-demand fields of work while having the opportunity to evaluate the Service member’s suitability for the work. Field Service is based in Evendale OH, all of our FSRs are remote working in either stand alone or small multi-rep offices. Open to hosting a SkillBridge candidate at certain locations having multiple FSRs such as Jacksonville, FL; Oceana,
VA; Corpus Christi, TX; Tinker AFB, OK; Lemoore, CA; Mt Home, ID but may consider other locations depending on candidate pool. Multiple Internships are available.
Essential Responsibilities
- Act as the single point of contact to the customer for timely and satisfactory resolution of concerns covering a wide variety of support issues related to the maintenance, repair and management of the F110, T700 OR F404 at a prime and roved locations. Additionally responsible for knowledge of assigned region, coverage area, and related product lines, their associated configuration installations, and represents the most direct access to all appropriate internal functions to support the customer Establish and maintain contact to provide on-going technical and business support to assigned customers
- Includes direct customer interaction and coordination. Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute on contract deliverables.
- Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
- Uses best judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated maintenance and troubleshooting processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
Required Qualifications:
- Active Military personnel
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited university or college OR
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university (or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a field service / maintenance position as a Military Field Service Representative)
- Minimum of 3 years of field maintenance, modification, and repair experience on propulsion system products
Desired Qualifications:
- Strong customer interaction and communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Proven analytical and quality improvement ability
- Demonstrated proficiency in repair troubleshooting, shop operations and testing of assigned programs / hardware
- Able to work with and make formal presentations to all levels of maintenance, engineering, and management
- Project management experience
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence GE customers and peers
- Possess knowledge of the learning process and how to transfer technical knowledge to less qualified personnel including the ability to express thoughts in both oral and written communications
- Possess the ability to work independently, without technical guidance and to perform all required work tasks
- Possess a high degree of tact, diplomacy, and ability to work and cooperate harmoniously with customer personnel
