SUMMARY:
NDT Technicians will be responsible to the Supervisor NDT for the actual performance of the setup, specific instrument calibration, specific tests, specific evaluation according to written instruction and to record the results.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintaining proficiency, qualification and certification in NDT inspection methods for which certified in accordance with RSQCM 4.2.
- Maintain a familiarization with applicable codes, regulations, standards and specifications related to NDT inspection performed by the repair station.
- Set up and standardization of NDT equipment and/or instrumentation, performance of tests, and the evaluation and interpretation of test results. Nondestructive tests shall be performed in accordance with approved manufacturers or customer supplied data. Test results shall be recorded in accordance with the requirements of this manual.
- Perform other duties as required by the Lead NDT.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS: Good working knowledge of all aircraft job tasks, thorough understanding of all applicable FARs and company policies and procedures, thorough knowledge of all aircraft manuals, nondestructive testing manuals and related materials. Thorough knowledge of all VT Mobile Aerospace and customer paperwork and a thorough knowledge of blueprint and drawing instructions.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
SUPERVISION: Performs duties according to his or her own judgment, requesting assistance only when necessary.
INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS: A strong level of interpersonal skill required to maintain an effective relationship with various departments, Inspectors, co-workers, Supervision and the Customer.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: Requires easy mobility around various sections of aircraft. Requires mental skills and quickness with the ability to cope with stress and intense effort or exertion usually caused by long working hours. Working environment requires standing 90 of the work day on hard surfaces. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and to report to work regularly.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma / GED or equivalent.
- Airframe and Powerplant license preferred. Repairman certification acceptable.
- Meets the requirements listed in RSQCM section 4.2 for NDT Technicians.
- Training in applicable NDT method certifications held, meeting or exceeding the requirements of American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT)
- Recommended Practice SNT-TC-1A
EXPERIENCE: 60 months’ inspection experience or have previous documentable NDT training or experience
