Job Description

The Quality Inspector will support site quality and compliance activities on a one-year contract, focusing on supplier quality, nonconformance management, audits, and continuous improvement. This role works closely with receiving inspection, quality leadership, and plant personnel to maintain compliance with AS9100 requirements and customer expectations while ensuring robust root cause analysis and corrective actions across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Work with receiving inspection to document supplier nonconformances in the Intelex database.
  • Assist in issuing supplier nonconformances in the Intelex database and follow up to ensure suppliers provide responses within documented lead times.
  • Review supplier root cause analyses and corrective actions to prevent recurrence and close nonconformances in the Intelex database as required.
  • Assist in creating certification packages, first article documentation, and configuration audits as needed.
  • Assist quality leadership in approving supplier PPAPs.
  • Contact suppliers to obtain and maintain current Quality System Certificates for the Supplier Master List (SML).
  • Create and revise quality documents to support continued compliance with AS9100, and submit them for approval as required.
  • Perform root cause and corrective action activities for delivery errors in the Intelex database, including use of 8D and 5-Why analysis.
  • Perform root cause and corrective action activities for technical errors in the Intelex database, including use of 8D and 5-Why analysis.
  • Create and revise process flow charts and control plans, and train plant personnel on new or updated revisions.
  • Support quality leadership by conducting initial, recurrent, and annual compliance training sessions.
  • Support quality leadership in performing PFMEA reviews.
  • Support the Part Production Approval Process (PPAP), including gage R&R studies and capability studies, particularly when process, supplier, or material changes occur.
  • Manage the audit process for both Quality and EHS areas to ensure audits are conducted and completed according to the annual schedule.
  • Verify that audit-related root causes and corrective actions are identified and that corrective actions are effective in preventing recurrence.
  • Prepare and present audit work and findings to second- and third-party auditors.
  • Follow all plant safety regulations at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support quality and operational objectives.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and planning requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Ability to delegate work to meet scheduled delivery dates.
  • Ability to work independently in a high-stress environment.
  • Experience with inspection and quality control activities.
  • Ability to perform visual inspection and use inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring devices.
  • Ability to interpret and work from blueprints.
  • Familiarity with quality standards and quality assurance practices.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as part of normal job duties.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with in-process and final inspection of parts.
  • Experience documenting and managing nonconformances in systems such as Intelex.
  • Exposure to or experience with AS9100 quality management systems.
  • Experience with 8D and 5-Why root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Experience creating and maintaining process flow charts and control plans.
  • Experience supporting PFMEA reviews and PPAP activities, including gage R&R and capability studies.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple audits and corrective action activities.
  • Comfort presenting quality and audit work to internal and external auditors.
  • Commitment to maintaining compliance with applicable regulations and internal standards.

Work Environment

This is a contract role working Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with occasional weekend work as needed. The facility is climate-controlled, and all necessary tools are provided. The dress code is business casual, with a blue coat worn in the work area and steel-toe footwear required. The position involves standing, moving within the plant, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The work focuses on inspection, quality control, and documentation within a production environment, utilizing measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges, as well as computer-based systems like Intelex and Microsoft Office. A near vision eye test to Jaeger 1 and a color perception assessment are required to ensure accurate visual inspection of parts and documentation.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $27.00/hr.
