Work environment: GE Aviation Systems facility located in Islip, Long Island is dedicated to the design and manufacture of power conversion & control products, Battery systems, Lighting Controllers, Frequency Converters, Digital Control Products, Control Panels, Inverters, Power supplies and Advanced power conversion applications
Roles and Responsibilities:
Role Summary:
Follows written procedures, repair cards and directions to perform the required quality checks, utilizing a variety of inspection equipment, gauging devices, and test sets
Alerts supervision and enters a nonconformance in TIPQA when unusual or frequent defects are discovered in the product
Reads, interprets, finds blueprints, and uses all measuring devices for dimensional requirements, and makes out all proper records and documents
Inspects electronic assemblies, sub-assemblies, circuit cards, modules, and/or components for correct assembly, value, forming, and position, etc. as established by drawing, schematic, parts lists, work standards, and/or other predetermined criteria
Sets up inspection fixtures or aids other inspectors to perform inspection functions
Accepts or rejects units in accordance with established work standards (IPCs)
Provides training and mentoring for other employees
Sorts products according to defects and maintains records of products tested
Utilizes Oracle system for transactions
Performs other routine inspections, within fairly similar situations resulting in standardized but not identical outcomes
Utilizes written or visual instructions involving use of quantitative information from specifications, graphs, pictures, blueprints, dials, gages, etc.
Provides written and/or oral communications concerning a variety of situations
Keeps workstation, tools and equipment in a neat and orderly manner
Understands and complies with all Company, safety rules and regulations
Engages and participates in a self-directed teaming environment
Performs operator audits as required.
Generates Quality documentation post final inspection
Qualifications/Requirements
Should be proficient in Incoming, In-Process and Final Inspection processes (Internal)
Basic computer skills
Skills required in handling basic or simple tools and/or measuring devices such as micrometers, radius gauges, calipers, etc.
Skills required in simple mathematical counting
Skills requiring the basic ability to interpret blueprints and repair cards
Should possess dexterity skills, good hand & eye coordination
Eligibility Requirements:
3-5 years of Manufacturing experience
1-3 years of Inspection experience
High School Diploma or GED
IPC-A-610 Certification
Willingness & Ability to obtain Preliminary Review (PR) Certification
Desired Characteristics:
Past experience in a manufacturing environment
Past experience in a self-directed teaming environment
Past experience with Oracle
Past experience with TipQA
Past experience with Proficy
Past or Recent FAA Repairman’s Certification
Lean manufacturing knowledge
The hourly pay range for this position is $26 to $30/hr. The specific hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, their education, and the work location.
