F-16 AFE Specialist – Romania

Draken is looking for experienced F-16 AFE Specialists for duty at a Romanian Air Force (RoAF) F-16 Training Center located at the 86th Air Base (86AB), near Borcea Romania. AFE Specialists will be providing Life Support for F-16 Instructor Pilots and Student Pilots. 

 

Job Description

  • Performing the day-to-day duties assigned by the shop lead, identifying and coordinating resolution of life support issues and maintaining lists of both available and additional required life support equipment.
  • Maintaining, inspecting, testing, certifying, repairing, and assembling F-16 aircrew life support equipment to include: Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System (JHMCS), and standard fighter aircraft helmets, masks, and related oxygen and electronic communication devices; night vision cameras mounted on the HMD, survival equipment; g-suits; harnesses; anti-exposure suits; and flotation devices.
  • Instructing aircrew on combat survival and other life support activities
  • Execute administrative and command and control functions of the RoAF F-16 Training Center
  • Mentor junior team members is required
  • Travel is required
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Job Requirements:

Must have the education, training, technical knowledge, and experience required.

  • Required qualifications in all aspects of maintaining, inspecting, repairing, and fitting flight equipment to include helmets, oxygen masks, survival gear, and parachute packing.
  • Requires at least 2 years experience conducting training in the proper use of flight equipment, land and water survival, hanging harness, and ejection seat training.
  • Requires at least 4 years experience with US military regulations/ instructions governing the maintenance, inspection, and use of flight and life support equipment.
  • Requires at least 2 years experience working on aircrew life support equipment on fighter or trainer aircraft.
  • Experience leading an aircrew life support and flight equipment shop is preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain secret security clearance 
  • Must be able to work all shifts
  • Must be able to travel as part of a team
  • High School / GED required.
  • Must speak, read, write, and understand English

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Environment ranges from office to hangar and flight line. Extensive sitting to climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, and walking demands.
  • Special vision abilities required are close vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders and work stands.
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depths.
  • May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft.
  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles, or aircraft.
