Job Description SummaryThis role is within the Commercial Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) Mechanical Design team in GE Aerospace’s Engineering Division. The team is responsible for the design and development of CMC components within the High-Pressure-Turbine (HPT) and Combustor Module of the GE9X and LEAP Commercial Turbofan engines.

As the Staff Engineer, you will serve as the lead for projects focused on durability maturation, fleet support, and certification programs for our commercial CMC hot section hardware. Your tasks will include performing stress analysis and lifing on these components using finite-element-analysis (FEA) software. Your responsibilities will involve organizing and collaborating with cross-functional teams, including mechanical design and analysis, materials engineering, systems engineering and program management. You will serve as a technical mentor for a small team of mechanical analysts, and you will be accountable to driving milestone completion. You will be responsible for evaluating component durability, analyzing impacts of non-conforming hardware, providing assessments on fleet findings, and supporting new component design releases. You will need to implement lessons learned from other programs and influence future design and standard practices.

Your technical expertise will be crucial in iterating on existing processes and design, while also providing mentorship to early-career individuals in engineering. In this position, you will have a moderate level of autonomy, which will require high levels of operational judgement. As the Staff Engineer, you will contribute significant input into setting your priorities and the priorities of the analysis team.
