Job Title: Structures Technician
Job Description
The Structures Technician is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining aircraft in accordance with FAA regulations and company standards. This position involves scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in hangar environments, real-time line maintenance, and rapid-response AOG support.
Responsibilities
- Perform heavy maintenance, modifications, and overhauls on aircraft systems and structures in hangar environments.
- Use technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics to guide repairs accurately.
- Document all work performed in accordance with regulatory and company procedures.
- Ensure compliance with Airworthiness Directives (ADs) and Service Bulletins during maintenance.
- Conduct pre-flight, post-flight, and turnaround inspections to ensure aircraft readiness.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues during aircraft operations efficiently.
- Replace components and perform minor repairs to maintain aircraft readiness.
- Coordinate with flight crews and dispatch for real-time updates during line maintenance.
- Respond to urgent aircraft issues that prevent flight operations, providing AOG support.
- Travel to remote locations as needed to perform repairs under time-sensitive conditions.
- Communicate effectively with operations and maintenance control to expedite solutions.
Essential Skills
- Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certification.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial aircraft maintenance (e.g., B737, A320, B747).
- Strong understanding of FAA regulations and aircraft systems.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and engineering drawings.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and test instruments.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) environments.
- Familiarity with hazardous material handling.
- Ability to obtain airport SIDA badge
- Sheet metal, structures, aircraft structures experience.
- Modification or repair experience.
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and perform overhead work.
- Capable of standing, kneeling, and walking for extended periods.

Work Environment
The work environment is primarily in a hangar setting, with current operations during the day shift from Monday to Friday. There is potential for adding a second and third shift, so flexibility on shift availability is preferred. Employees are expected to have their own tools, which must be kept in a box but do not need to be shadowed or etched.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Birmingham, AL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
