Job Description:

The Aviation Teardown Technician is responsible for the safe and systematic disassembly of aircraft, engines, components, and structures in accordance with approved maintenance data, FAA regulations, and company procedures. This role supports maintenance, repair, overhaul, and component repair operations by ensuring accurate removal, identification, and documentation of aircraft parts and assemblies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform aircraft, engine, and component teardown in accordance with maintenance manuals, work instructions, and FAA regulations
  • Remove aircraft structures, systems, and components using proper tooling and approved procedures
  • Tag, identify, preserve, and package removed parts for inspection, repair, or disposition
  • Accurately document part numbers, serial numbers, and removal data in maintenance records
  • Perform basic inspections to identify damage, wear, or discrepancies during disassembly
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and calibrated equipment safely and correctly
  • Follow FOD control, tool accountability, and safety procedures at all times
  • Support mechanics, inspectors, and engineers during heavy maintenance and modification events
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Comply with OSHA, EPA, and company environmental and safety policies

Employment Type

  • Full-time / Contract
  • Shift: Day, Night, or Weekend shifts depending on operational needs
Job Requirements:
  • Minimum of 1–3 years of aircraft maintenance, teardown, or heavy maintenance experience
  • Working knowledge of aircraft systems, structures, and hardware
  • Ability to read and follow aircraft maintenance manuals and technical instructions
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Experience using standard aviation hand tools and power tools
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces
  • Must be able to work extended hours, weekends, or shifts as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • A&P License or enrollment in an A&P program
  • Experience with commercial aircraft, business jets, or military platforms
  • Familiarity with aircraft preservation, storage, and packaging requirements
  • Experience in MRO or aircraft teardown/part-out environments

Work Environment

  • Hangar, flight line, and shop environments
  • Exposure to noise, chemicals, and varying temperatures
  • PPE required
  • Tools required
