Position Summary
Helps Test Engineering & Operations with the execution of tests. Assignments may include preparation of test articles, test execution and data collection. There is a variety of tests ranging from environmental tests on small equipment to full-scale tests of an aircraft wheel and brake on a flywheel dynamometer.
Responsibilities
The Test Engineering & Operations department provides the last phase of the development of a product: conducting qualification tests to determine whether equipment meets the rigors of the customer’s requirements. The Engineering Technician I will assist in potentially any of the following activities:
- Preparation of individual Wheel, Brake, and System LRUs for test
- Conducting test set up which includes inspection, electrical, and hydraulic connections in accordance with detailed procedures and schematics
- Conducting tests according to written and verbal instruction.
- Monitoring test progress.
- Utilizing test equipment and data acquisition.
- Documenting results.
- Operation of several different types of test equipment.
- Understand and work with various MABS generated instructions associated with testing
- Continuous Improvement activities to enhance the efficiency of processes and tools in the laboratory
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
- High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
- Ability to work on-site 100 of the time.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to research and analyze data effectively
- Ability to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision, in order to meet deadlines
Preferred Skills / Qualifications / Attributes:
- High level of mechanical aptitude and problem solving
- Ability to assemble complicated hardware according to precise drawings and instructions
- Ability to operate workshop equipment and tools
- Ability to interpret and record test data
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Basic computer skills to include Microsoft Office
- Ability to learn basic Virtual Address Extension (VAX) data acquisition system (DAS) operation
- Self – motivated, enthusiastic and professional
- Makes health & safety a priority and helps maintain 6S and HSE standards
- Practical Skills - Takes good care of equipment and tools
