Job Description SummaryThis engineering design leadership position serves as the Turbine Structures Design Team Lead for a GE Edison Works Advanced Military Engine New Product Initiative (NPI) Program.
The Turbine Structures Design Team Leader will lead a team of cross-disciplinary engineers in the design of turbine frames, cases, manifolds, plenums, and other structural components and is the primary technical leader ensuring delivery of quality technical solutions to meet program requirements and milestones. Additionally, the Team leader will provide direct technical mentoring to mechanical design hardware owners. Success in this role requires excellence in communicating programs goals, developing and executing objectives for self and others, implementing lean process improvements, and solving complex problems. Roles and Responsibilities
- Serve as Engineering Team Leader for the Turbine Structures of a Edison Works NGP program, ensuring the module meets its key program milestones and technical performance requirements.
- Provide technical guidance towards the design, analysis and evaluation of turbine frames, cases, manifolds, plenums, and other structural components using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
- Provide technical leadership to personnel / cross functional teams supporting the assigned project, as well as across the engineering organization to fulfill responsibilities.
- Communicate to the leadership team, including leaders both internal to GE and with the external military customer.
- Implement plans with guidance to meet technical requirements of assigned components and systems.
- Develop action plans with guidance to respond to issues/ problems.
- Lead or participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives.
- Recommend, with guidance, the approach to meet the technical and program requirements.
- Participate and present or review in technical and program reviews.
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college
- At least 10 additional years of experience in an Engineering position
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance
