Your Mission

As part of the Office of Airworthiness within the Engineering Directorate, the Design Organization Approval (DOA) Safety Manager is responsible for implementation and operation within the DOA perimeter of the safety management system (SMS).  He establishes and promotes an organizational culture that fosters safety practices through effective leadership. 

The Safety Manager establishes, implements, and maintains a safety policy for the DOA and defines the corresponding related safety objectives for the DOA, in line with the corporate safety objectives. He ensures the safety management of the DOA in line with the EASA Part 21 A.239(c) and 21.A.245(b) and he is responsible for the DOA in front of the airworthiness agency (EASA).

The Safety Manager acts as proactive and reactive information channel to identify and raise safety risks to the attention of ATR top management and to deliver safety information to the organization’s staff, contractors and stakeholders. He is responsible for ATR in government, international organizations and industry committees (e.g. ICAO, IATA, EASA, FAA, ASD, GIFAS etc.).

The main activities to be undertaken in the frame of this position are to:

  • Be responsible for the ATR DOA Safety Management system
  • Be responsible for the establishment, implementation and maintenance of a safety risk management process that includes identification, evaluation and management of the risks,
  • Identify the actions to be launched to mitigate the safety risks that have been identified and verify these actions effectiveness. 
  • Endorse the continuous improvement of the hazard identification and safety risk assessment schemes and the organization’s SMS in front of the airworthiness authorities (EASA) and of the ATR top management.
  • Coordinate and animate the DOA SMS community and participate to the Corporate SMS
  • Analyze technical data for trends related to hazards, events and occurrences. 
  • Be in charge of the regulatory watch for evolution of practices and rules, recognize and promote hazard reporting and ensure effective safety reporting through appropriate training/education, 
  • Be responsible to provide and articulate information regarding safety issues within the organization. 
  • Establish, implement and maintain a safety assurance process that includes: 
    • Use of applicable processes and procedures to fulfil roles and responsibilities. 
    • Investigation of opportunities to increase the efficiency of processes. 
    • Measurement of the effectiveness and continuous improvement of the quality of processes. 

About you

  • Aeronautical engineer with at least 15 years of experience in engineering and Airworthiness
  • Technical skills
  • Good knowledge of ATR aircraft systems, operations and documentation,  
  • Experience of occurrence safety assessment and classification
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations (Part 21 and CS25)
  • Human Factor experience would be a plus
  • Language skills: English – fluent
  • IT skills: Windows Pack Office, ECCAIRS
