Reporting to VP, Asset Management & Product Strategy the Aircraft Asset Manager plays an important role in De Havilland Canada’s OEM Certified Refurbishment Program. This team member will contribute a combination of technical and commercial expertise to the aircraft acquisition, repatriation, storage, and respaneting activities leading to the successful induction of an aircraft asset into the DHC MRO for refurbishment.
The Aircraft Asset Manager works frequently with both internal and external suppliers and customers to develop cost effective and timely solutions to preserve and eventually enhance the value of the aircraft assets DHC acquires. This role requires a strict adherence to regulations and technical standards, while bringing creativity and pragmatism to problem solving. Success is ultimately measured in the preservation of aircraft value and development of customer-value for aircraft under management.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Commercial team to develop initial assessment and business case for acquisition of Assets. Deliverables include pre-purchase inspections, records reviews, aircraft valuation adjustments for maintenance condition, budgetary cost estimates for return to service, repairs, repatriation, and storage.
- Execute the following during the Aircraft Acceptance phase: pre-delivery inspection, technical acceptance, transition of records management, ensure all required documentation, registrations, insurance, and permits have been received.
- Develop and manage “Project plans” to repatriate and secure DHC’s aircraft assets into the desired storage location prior to MRO induction.
- Contribute to the development of customer quotes by sourcing and estimating costs for external components and services such as: STC, EO, missing parts or components, paint or other repair or modification services.
- Support the Respaneting of aircraft under management by responding to customer technical inquiries on aircraft status, records requests and proposed modification packages.
- Ensure aircraft records are properly maintained while the aircraft are in transition or storage and identify upcoming required maintenance or renewal of permits, insurance or other key documents.
- Provide oversight of 3rd party services used during the Project. Includes development of work scope, approval of parts and change order, schedule management.
Experience
- 10+ years of Aircraft Asset Management experience with a leasing company, financier, or OEM.
- Dash 8 Asset Management experience is essential, including extensive technical knowledge of aircraft design, DHC’s Afterspanet products and Services and 3rd party products and services available in the spanetplace.
- Knowledge of the certification, regulatory and jurisdictional requirements for Dash 8 aircraft, MRO and operators. This includes an understanding of applicable airworthiness requirements, quality systems, engineering and flight operations requirements and best practices.
- Experience and exposure to other DHC types is desired (Twin Otter, CL215/415, out of production DHC types)
- Project Management experience including a track record of keeping to budgets and schedules.
- Commercial experience, negotiation skills, acumen and judgement to make timely decisions within scope and escalate effectively where required.
- Ability to present and communicate project reports and case studies and data to internal and external stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel as required on short notice in support of projects.
Education
- Engineering Degree or equivalent College accreditation
- Aircraft Maintenance, Pilot or other professional licenses are an asset.
