Job Description

Supervise all Repair Station operations; direct and oversee annual, scheduled, and non-scheduled aircraft inspections, repair, and maintenance. Ensure quality assurance; review, revise, and monitor compliance with the Repair Station Manual; assess training needs; confirm certifications. Manage fleet reliability; monitor maintenance and repair work for completeness, accuracy, and timeliness; ensure equipment and tools are properly calibrated; address deficiencies; identify and recommend equipment upgrades; document and maintain records.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all Repair Station operations, including annual, scheduled, and non-scheduled aircraft inspections, repair, and maintenance.
  • Ensure quality assurance by reviewing, revising, and monitoring compliance with the Repair Station Manual.
  • Assess training needs and confirm certifications.
  • Manage fleet reliability by monitoring maintenance and repair work for completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Ensure equipment and tools are properly calibrated and address deficiencies.
  • Identify and recommend equipment upgrades.
  • Document and maintain records.
  • Manage aircraft parts inventory, approve and track orders, arrange parts transport to shippers, and update the shelf-life program.
  • Document and appropriately dispose of scrapped parts.
  • Keep abreast of technical data and regulatory requirement changes, and update manuals, publications, policies, and procedures.
  • Notify personnel of updates.
  • Liaise with vendors, suppliers, customers, and charter operators to coordinate repairs, costs, and scheduling.
  • Advocate Repair Station services.
  • Hire, train, coach, supervise, schedule, and evaluate employees.
  • Plan and coordinate professional development opportunities.
  • Adhere to Collective Bargaining Agreement provisions.
  • Participate in grievance and arbitration proceedings.
Essential Skills
  • A&P Mechanic certification.
  • Experience in airport management.
  • Experience with Part 145 repair stations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Supervisor level experience.
  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge to perform own work.
  • Intermediate to advanced planning, organizing, directing, and facilitating skills.
  • Ability to coach assigned employees.
  • Experience in assigning and reviewing completed work to verify accuracy, quality, and adherence to professional standards.
  • Experience in training, coaching, mentoring, and motivating staff.
  • Ability to anticipate potential problems, issues, and opportunities, and recommend solutions.
  • Experience in validating and paying invoices, and tracking budgets.

Work Environment

Work in a hangar environment at State College Airport, using state-of-the-art technologies and equipment. The position involves working independently on moderately complex work assignments, organizing work of direct reports, and setting team priorities.
